Can anyone tell me why...?
Hi ladies, can anyone help me?
I was thinking about my up and coming op and something just occured to me. Why is that the first 2 surgeons I saw said I would be best having an uplift with unders and the last surgeon (the one I am having my op with) has said overs. Why have I been told both different placements? Why, if I have enough breast tissue for overs, would 2 of them say unders?
Am I missing something? Are overs really going to be the right choice? I am so confused now and stressing that I've made the wrong choice
Thanks in anticipation.

I think it's a matter of whether you trust your surgeon. Hopefully you chose him because he's the right surgeon for you, so his advice should give you what you want and is best for you.

Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
I guess so.
I chose this surgeon as he was recommended to me as he is a specialist in this op and his work with scars is great. I think I'm just having last minute nerves and I'm finding anything to stress about.
Thanks for your reply hun

Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
Yeah probably. I think it's probably because I have enough tissue maybe?

I think surgeons have different opinions and some say one thing and another say something else. If your not 100% happy I would speak to your surgeon again. x

Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
It's not that I'm not happy, it just confuses me. But like you say surgeons have different opinions. I trust my surgeon 100% and I think I'm worrying about rippling but there are up and down sides to each choice I suppose...
I like that with overs you can get a good cleavage, whereas I was told if I had unders, the gap between my boobs would stay the same. We'll just have to wait and see the end result I guess. Are you all happy with your boobies now? Has anyone had both placements? Which did you prefer?

Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
Talk to your surgeon huni.. I changed my mind about my implants 4 days before my op. They're used to last minute nerves xx
Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
I was told 2 different things aswell one surgeon told me unders with a possible nipple lift and 2 surgeons told me overs. I wanted overs so thats what I went with and I didn't need a nipple lift either.
I'm happy with my placement and you can get rippling with unders aswell. I would have had either placement to be honest but as I had enough tissue for overs I figured why damage my muscle if I didn't need to. : )

Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
I will do hun, did you change your change your placement or size? I'm restricted in what size I can have. I really want the 340cc but my surgeon isn't sure if he will be able to fit them in! Fingers crossed for me...

Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
My surgeon doesnt do unders, he said if he thinks some one needs unders, he wont do the op, so just depends on the surgeon i think. I really thought I would need unders before I saw him but didnt and I am happy with my boobs xx

Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
I changed my size huni, I went from 335cc to 390cc to ensure me a good D xx
Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
Thanks Peachy, you have settled my mind a bit now. Overs it is but I definitely need an uplift. After breastfeeding 3 kids things have gone decidely south
Good point about muscle damage too, not keen on distortion!

Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
Phoebe that's so strange, I wonder why he won't do unders?! You're look great though xx
Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
My surgeon actually didn't even mention my breast tissue. He said that he'd give me overs so that when my breasts naturally drop (sag) everything drops together. That with unders, the implant would stay higher, behind the muscle, than the dropping breast infront of it? If that makes any sense to you??It made sense when he said it lol xx
Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
Thanks ladies...
Phoebe, I don't think my surgeon does unders either, at least that's what I have heard. Good that you are happy with the end result!
Tanyajade, I bet you are glad you got the bigger ones eh? Most girls say it's better to get the bigger size :-) I'm gutted I might not get the size I want but I will definitely press the point that I want the 340cc's!!

Well, I can hope! :cheerlead:
I'd love to be bigger secretly but if I get the DD's I'll be a happy girl!

Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
I was told by a surgeon I'd need a full anchor lift and If I didn't like scars don't get it done, he also had a very gruff matter of fact personality. The PS I chose totally disagreed a lift was required based on measurements , he said I was borderline lift on one side, he said overs were possible with a larger implant and we would achieve the same results, he was warmer and I felt he knew what I needed and wanted from the op not just the finished product, so I went with him. I would talk to the PS you felt most comfortable with and ask again.

Re: Can anyone tell me why...?
I thought I would need unders and the first consultant agreed, but don't know if he can do op when I want it because he is waiting for knee op. He did say he would try to find another consultant who would do unders as apparently some consultants don't.
He has not got back to me so have booked to see another consultant so will be interesting to see what he says. But both of the ones I have chosen to see also do a lot of work in breast reconstruction surgery so second chap should be able to do unders if that is what I need.
