How soon can i fly after surgery??!
Hello everyone. i am a newbie and going through all sorts of emotions. I wish i had discovered this site months ago as my surgery is booked for october the 7th. I just wanted to check with you guys how fast you recovered. Thing is I have to travel on business on the 6th of November which is only 4 weeks after the op and i am flying to australia which is a nearly 24 hour flight. I will be travelling alone so i will have to carry all of my luggage myself.
Do you think i shall be ok? This business trip was just arranged last week so i have to go. I dont want to cancel my new boobies either as i have changed my mind soo many times im afraid I will never get it done if i cancel this time,
Thanks girls for reading my long post and i look forward to your thoughts on it!!!!

Hi hun, I think 4 weeks may be too soon. You're not supposed to fly because it puts you at risk if DVT, and Australia is a really long flight. Is there no way you cancel the meeting? Xx

Re: How soon can i fly after surgery??!
I was told 6 weeks, not because I couldn't fly, as those people who travel abroad for surgery usually travle a few days or weeks later, but because if you are going to get a complication it is usually within the first 6 weeks and you would then need to see your surgeon, if you are abroad most insurance companies will not cover you for treatment so you would need to pay or get a flight back to your surgeon asap which can be quite difficult and you are going to be very far away. Having said that if you can speak to your surgeon about it and he/she feels you are able to fly then there probably is no problem.

I would speak to your surgeon about this hun, I flew from Prague after 4 days but this is a 1.5hr flight, A 24hr flight may be risky so soon after surgery. If you cannot cancel your meeting you may need to postpone your surgery hun x

I flew just under 4 weeks with the OK from PS. just made sure that I kept everything covered and took topical liquid from the clinic to clean them. I think you should talk to your PS as long haul is normally 6 weeks post op. x
