Hi Girls
Could anybody tell me if it's ok to wear a support top instead of support bra ? as in those vest tops that have got the support panels inside them, it's just that i am getting very uncomfortable now with the tight bra's got bruising round my ribcage now under my boob's
If it is a tight top will it do the same thing ????

Yeah definately stick with the sports bra, i initially took a post op specific bra in for after my op and my surgeon said it wouldnt be strong enough so my OH had to go out and buy me a stronger sports bra.
It will be worth it in the end x

def stick with the sports bra hun. maybe try a bra extender - you will probably still be swollen at the minute so that will help with short term relief.

No. That definitely won't give u anywhere near the amount of support u need. Just a thought but maybe u need to go up a band size if your bra's are that tight. They shouldn't be uncomfortable x

No they will be fine later on when you are allowed to wear normal bras but at the moment you need them to be supported if they aren't they may ache and feel like they will fall off. I would try a band size bigger, if the cup feels too big due to the band increase just go down a cup size.

If you've been told to wear a support bra, then that's what you should be doing hunni.

As has been said, if you're suffering discomfort from your support bra, then you should try to alleviate it or change it to another that fits better sweetheart. I had very sore ribs too post-op and just found a little padding from cotton wool helped from the pressure of the band, if that doesn't work for you then try the larger band size or an expender for your band hun. xx

HI Trudster
I'm no expert but don't think it matters how much you pay as long as it gives good support x

all surgeons advise different things but i've been told i can wear a normal bra from 4 weeks. i have 2 sports bras, wash one and wear one. maybe get a strap extender as well in case of swelling.

I went a bit giddy I bought 7, I have 5 now I took 2 back after op as they were too small. I have 2 expensive ones and 3 supermarket ones. The Asda ones are really comfy cost £4.00, I wear them for bed and the one in my avatar with the pink trim is from there. The Tesco one is low enough to be able to wear it under a vest top with thick straps. The Shock Absorber is really supportive but really high up the chest and the M&S one is really supportive and high up the chest but has a comfy band. x
