Sleeping sitting up & V-pillow
Are you actually told to sleep upright after having your BA or is it just the only way to get comfortable? how long do you have to sleep sitting up for?
And is a V pillow the big one that can support your body or the little one that can go around your neck?
Just realising I've only got 2 and a bit weeks to go so I might need to order these things now if they're necessary. xxx

sleeping upright is to help the swelling go down hun, and you don't have to be totally upright, just raise your head and shoulders a little. i didn't get a v pillow so can't advice on that one.

Re: Sleeping sitting up & V-pillow
Like kittie has said, the sleeping upright is to help with the swelling hun.
I also found that it was difficult to get upright at first, so sleeping on an angle was comfier for me.
V pillow was a godsend for me, I also used lots of pillows as well though.
I bought this one from argos.

Re: Sleeping sitting up & V-pillow
I bought my V pillow from Argos also -- it was only £7 or something. I've found it to be a godsend to be honest. I found it very difficult getting out of bed for the first week or so as I couldn't put any weight on my arms (I had unders so it might be different if you're having overs?) and by sleeping upright it helped as it meant i could kinda roll out of bed!
As for sleeping up right, I'm still sleeping upright a little but thats partly because my rightie is still swollen so I want to try and get this down if I can.

Meant to say - I slept upright for about a week post op. Only just able to lie on side a few days ago but I have to lie in a certain way otherwise boobies and arms are in the way of each other (how great to be able to say my boobs are big enough to be in the way of something lol)

I wasnt told to sleep upright but I had read ot on here so i did, and found it really comfortable. I didnt have a V Pillow though, I used a single quilt and pillows, and found that was really good, nice and easy to get out of bed too x

When I saw the nurse at my pre op she said you don't need to be sat up or anything just on a slight incline to help with swelling and for comfort

Also I did get a V pillow but I would say if you have a few good supportive pillows they should be fine.

Oh I see for the swelling... that's going to be so hard cos I only really like sleeping flat on my belly, but I suppose the end result will be worth it!
I'll probably get that Argos pillow seeing as it's so cheap. xx
