Weight loss before & after surgery?
Good morning ladies,
My op is in 5 weeks so I'm on a serious health kick now (I say whilst eye-ing up the Curly Wurly that's waving at me from my bag)...
I just want to lose another 7lbs before my op (already lost 3 st and now it's really difficult to lose)...
I was wondering what anyone else did in prep for their op, health wise?
Also does anyone know the impact of weight loss after the surgery? Would this change the way the implants look in any way?
Thanks, Tan xxx

Re: Weight loss before & after surgery?
Congats on losing 3 stone already hun. Sounds like you've done really well. If you lose a drastic amount of weight after your surgery then it can change the way your implants look depending on how much breast tissue you lose.
I have had the opposite problem. I've gain weight since my surgery which means my boobs are far bigger than I was hoping for!

Re: Weight loss before & after surgery?
Thank you Sally,
Probably best if I try to lose as much as possible before the surgery then.
Atleast you know if you lose weight you can get them to go smaller? I bet you'd never go back to pre-op though would you?
They look lovely on your pic hun, they actually look really natural and curvy. I'm hoping for the same result!!

Re: Weight loss before & after surgery?
My Surgeon actually said to me that the implants would look better if I had a bit more 'meat' on me! HaHa!
I'd still like to lose about half a stone though but I'm going focus on my recovery first. I'm a bit what you'd call 'bottom heavy' at the moment! x

hehe you're lucky Astrapuss.. the day someone says I'd look better with 'a bit of meat' on me, I can die a happy girl!
Do you look more in proportion now though?
My weight is all in the middle, it's the worst place ever! My PCOS makes it near impossible to shift! xx

Hi Tanya, I haven't had my op yet, 3 days to go! I am hoping to be more in proportion yes. I'm very flat chested at the moment but with a 'meaty' ass! x

Re: Weight loss before & after surgery?
I was told that if I lost abit of weight after my BA it wouldnt effect my boobies but losing alot like 1st plus could effect my boobs. I just try and keep toned now so I dont put more than a few pounds on and my boobs dont get effected. xx

Hey Hun,
I lost 6.5 stone and then treated myself to new boobies!! Im so glad i did as the weight loss left me with very empty saggy boobs.....since having the op i have stayed roughly the same weight. I would like to loose another 7lbs to get to my ultimate goal but as others have said i dont think it makes too much of a difference to the new boobies! :)
Very exciting that your ops coming up soon!! Keep us posted!

Re: Weight loss before & after surgery?
wow well done on the weight loss Tanyajade and Klnglis!
I've just lost a bit of weight as I recently had a baby, and have about half a stone still to go, the last bit is always the hardest! I really want to lose it before I get my boobs, just so the surgeon knows what he's working with, and I worry I'll get them, then lose weight, and then they wont look right or something.
It's so hard though, cos when it's just the last few pounds to lose, you think you look almost alright, so I find I'm not as motivated anymore cos I just think ' oh I'll just stay like this', then eat too much and regret it!

Re: Weight loss before & after surgery?
Hi hun, I think it depends on whether your boobs change much while putting on or losing weight at the moment before my op I could put on 3 stone and my boobs wouldn't get any bigger and when I lost it they wouldn't get any smaller. So after my op I lost 2 stone and it made no difference to them, So if your boobs change with weight change then I'd lose the majority of weight you want to lose now before your op. As for PCOS and weight loss I'd try cutting down on carbs which will help you lose weight round your middle and 30mins of aerobic exercise a day. It's so much harder to lose and keep weight off with PCOS but it's much healthier for you in the long run if you do keep it off.
Re: Weight loss before & after surgery?
Wow well done klngis!! You look lovely on your profile pic, so pretty!
Mrsm, I know how annoying is it? The last bit always clings on for dear life! And you're right, you do get the 'well I look so much better than I did' attitude..so you kind of stop trying as hard!! What are us girls like eh !?
Misf1- thanks for the advice huni, I've managed to keep off the 3 stones I've lost so far.. I'm 10st now so I just want to get to 9st7 before my OP. I'll never be skinny cos I have a 'curvy' bone structure... but it's only my jelly belly hanging on! It's not huge but it's still not flat!
Thanks girls xxx

Re: Weight loss before & after surgery?
Hiya,
I am now 9st 7lbs and want to loose another 7lb before op but thats 15days away so there is no chance lol. I have PCOS and have had 3 kids so all my weight is round my belly and am a size 12 due to that. I have other issues down there to. I hate being the weight i am but look much bigger cause of it.
Well done on the weight loss, you should be proud of yourself and dont stress about the last few pounds xx

Re: Weight loss before & after surgery?
You should also be aware hun that if you lose a lot of weight after your surgery this puts you at risk of rippling. xx

tanyajade wrote:Rippling!!! Doens't sound attractive what is that? xx
It feels like waves across the skin, when it's bad it can look like indents from fingers in the skin.
If you're very thin or have very little breast tissue before surgery, then going under the muscle greatly reduces the risk of rippling as the muscle helps to cover the implant, but the less coverage you have the more at risk you are at of rippling, a lot of ladies do have some rippling but as it's not 'visible' it doesn't bother them, but for those with visible rippling the only way to solve it is through a re-op - A surgeon will always advise you maintain your surgery weight to get the best from your boobs sweetie. xxx

You're obviously lucky and have a lot of breast tissue Nat, it's something you should be aware of an worth keeping an eye on though if you are planning on losing more weight. xx
