Sizes of sports bras
Does the size of the sports bra they tell you to buy indicate what cup size you are going to end up or will you be less than that when the swelling goes down. I have also read that some people hope to be more than their sports bra size after they have settled its a tad confusing. Any thoughts? :) xx

Re: Sizes of sports bras
You know it's really confusing because I was put in a 38C sports bra and 1 month post op am a 34DD I think they want to compress everything and allow for the swelling under the breasts also. I am sure there are other ladies who are more clued up on this than me. I spoke to my PS and he said keep it tight but comfortable because you will wear it day and night for 3 months.

Re: Sizes of sports bras
I don't know anybody who remained the same size as their sportsbra size and in general, you do go up in cup sizes.
My first size sports bra was a 34DD, I then due to more swelling went to a 36DD and my resulting size after my boobs had dropped and relaxed and all swelling dispersed is... a 32F!

Re: Sizes of sports bras
Hmm I've been told to buy a 32dd. I wear a 34b at the moment I thought I would have had to go up a back size because of the swelling or even stay the same backsize but the surgeon told me I measure a 32. I've tried the shock absorber sports bra in a 32 back today and it digs in like crazy slightly concerned at the size cos I've only asked for a full c/d . My boobies are like a tyre with a slow puncture they need fixing and inflating a bit lol
Thanks xx
Thanks xx

If the 32 band feels tight and is digging into your skin pre-op then you're not a 32 band hun (in that particular bra, you may be others though) and I wouldn't recommend you buy a bra that 'hurts' either pre or post op!
If your surgeon thinks you're going need to get a DD cup initially post-op and you're only looking to be a full C to a D then I think you need to further discuss this with him babe so that you're both reading from the same page.
You only have to read every single post here after ladies get measured from 6 weeks up to see that they all go 'up' in cup size from their initial sportsbra size babe.
If you're at all uncertain or unsure about anything.... go back and see your surgeon hun before your op! xxx
Re: Sizes of sports bras
maybe thats because they buy their sports bras before the op, rather than being measured for them afterwards, no?

Possibly... but you're usually requested by your surgeon to get the cup size you asked to result in... for example I requested a DD so I was told to buy DD sports bras... xx
Im 19 and Worried
Hi im 19
and just about to have my op on wednesday, i dont know what size im going tobe yet, at the moment i am a 32aa and he said hes going to try 3 sizes of implant on me...
190, 230 and 260 i think.
I am also a dancer so is it better to get a sports bra with a cupsize and if so how do i know what size i need, or is it better to get a bounce bra which i wear for dancing that comes in just sizes like 10/12/14 etc ?
xxxx please help, very nervous xxxx

Re: Sizes of sports bras
Emily - You need to discuss with your surgeon what he estimates your resulting size will be hun, based on that you can then get yourself a sportsbra that will be best to support your new assets hunni. xxx

Thanks for that Cookie I will wait and see what the surgeon says when I was looking back on all the notes I took after each consultation it was actually a previous surgeon who told me that size so I will double check with the one I have chosen. xx

Re: Sizes of sports bras
Sorry, don't want to impose on thread but a few of you have said that the bra you wore post surgery was smaller than the size you ended up with... GULP. I'm a 36DD at mo and hoping to LOSE a little after swelling. Is there a chance I'd actually go UP a cup size???? xx

So would you recommend going up a backsize fro what you normally wear? x

Re: Sizes of sports bras
I'd buy two bras hun, your normal backsize and the next size too, you may not have any swelling hun so may not need the extra bandwidth, but a lot of women do swell around the ribs and need the extra to accomodate this so it's best to be prepared, you can always take back to the shop any bra you don't use can't you. xx

Re: Sizes of sports bras
Got a couple of new bras and the 34 is much more comfortable got a shock absorber and a cheap one from tescos which is surprisingly comfortable. Just need to get a 36 now just incase, better to be prepared, like you said Cookie I can always take it back x
