Confused about measuring - longish, sorry
Hi Girls
I'm 7 weeks post-op on Monday and having my 6 week check up with the nurse (we couldn't do it any sooner), and then another check-up with my actual surgeon 6 days later so will be 8 weeks post-op.
I haven't been measured yet as i am still in sports bras until both my check ups are done, but I think my surgeon will probably give me the go ahead to start wearing normal bras (i hope so anyway as sports bras are hard enough to hide under normal clothes and now the warm weather is here it is getting even harder).
Anyway, I haven't got time to get measured properly for the next 3 weeks at least (nearest La Senza and Bravissimo is over 30 miles away from home) and I work some funny hours so tried to measure myself using an online guide. Needless to say, it's useless as it has basically come out and said I am a 32b (was a 32/34b before my BA and had 340cc implants).
I am wearing 34DD sports bras and they fit nicely - quite snug and supportive, although I think I could probably get away with a 32DD as well (sometimes wore 32, sometimes 34 before the op). Do you think I would be ok to go ahead and buy some bras online from La Senza in 34DD or wait a few more weeks until i can get to a shop to get measured. I'm getting so desperate to get rid of this sports bra now as have recently started a new relationship and he is away with work at the moment - due back in 2 weeks and really want some nice new bras as we haven't 'done the deed' yet but it is definitely on the cards - don't think a manky sports bra is going to cut it, even if the contents do look amazing haha.
I'm not that loaded at the moment, so don't want to be wasting money if i can help it.
Thanks
Stilton xx

I'd definitely get measured hun, reason I say this is I tried on some 32DD bras a week ago and they fit nicely but then so does the 34D so I'm hoping by the time I'm 6 weeks they would have settled into the right size.
Also LaSenza sizes are different to other shop sizes, I was a 32E there.

Hi hun, I agree it's really best to get measured or fitted for a bra. Is there any shops near you that offer this like M&S or anything. La senza are definately funny sizes, so I would get measured there if you are going to buy from there, whether you have been measured previously or not, their bras are on the small side, so you may have to go up a size in there.

I would buy a couple of cheap bras until you get measured, at least then your not wasting loads of money. My sprts bras are either 34 or 36 D but when I but a proper bra that size is too small, I havent got measured yet but the last bras I bought are 34E.

I would get messured before you buy hun or at lest be able to try different sizes on. As for the online bra calculators they are a load of rubbish so dont give that a second thought. xx

I would get measured too hun, La Senza sizes come out really small. I bought a few bras before i got measured because like you, my nearest 'measuring' shops are 30mins away, and have never worn most of them because they dont fit - such a waste of money!

Measuring has become a thing of the past when purchasing bras now as it's been proven most women were wearing bras that were not the correct size for them.
When you now go to get a bra you will be 'fitted' there's no measuring involved, The lady fitting you into your new bras will ensure you fit in all areas into the bra enabling it to give you the support from your bras which you need, if you don't want to waste your money hun, then I'd wait until you can get properly fitted. xx

i tried measuring myself using the standard method, and according to this guide i am also a 32b,which is hilarious as both b cups wouldnt hold one boob, when i went for my debenhams bras i just took all the 32's in the changing room and found the 32 e fit best

Yes those online guides are complete rubbish! I don't understand who makes them up, probably a man lol. I once put my measurements in and I came out as a 36B which is complete nonsense LOL. I would definitely get fitted before you buy anything. If that's not possible then at the very least I would not buy bras online. You can still go into the shop and fit yourself into a bra, like melloumaw did you could just take a selection into the changing room and pick which one fits best out of all the cup sizes. And also agree with misf1, if you're going into La Senza to buy bras I would get fitted there as well because they fit different to most other underwear shops. xxx
