I dont want to tell my parents!!!

Post by juleszoemay on 18th April 2010, 10:16 am

Um yes I know, i'm 35.... get a grip!! But I know my parents would be horrified.... dont mess with what you have etc etc, old fashioned views too.

So I was wondering... I've done the rice test and I more or less look like I did in the 'larger' of my gel bra's.

I've been for a cons at Transform and have an appt at BMI bath Clinic tomorrow, and I think i'll be roughly going for 300's and Transform said I have enough tissue to go overs. I'm currently a 32b.

My question is.... if I can avoid them during the painful week.... do you think I can get away with them not knowing?! I'm sure they dont stare at my breasts, and I dont wear revealing clothes around them....

What do you think?
Also has anyone been to Richard Sutton at BMI Bath?

Thanks

I havent had a BA yet so I cant help you there, however I can totally understand your anguish as im dreading having to tell the mother (I cant not because she is going to need to look after the kids!) its not that shes scarey or strict as such, but shes a worrier, and as shes in her 50's its not something shes too familiar with, shes also very careful with money (to the point where she has loads of savings but still drives a crappy old car) so she wont like the thought of me spending so much money etc!
I would say you could get away with it tho!!
Good luck! Mia xx

If I hadn't needed my mum to look after my son I wouldn't have told my parents. My mum didn't say a lot when I told her although afterwards admitted they were very natural looking!

Hey Lovely
This is a real tough one! I did tell my mum and dad and I knew they would be gutted and really disappointed in me, and shock horror they were! I wanted to tell them just in case anything might have happened to me.
I had quite large implants so its a bit noticeable so I dont think I could have got away with not telling them.
I would say do whats right for you so you feel happiest and if they ask afterwards then say you have a new bra or something!
Lots of love
Grace

I agree with Grace, do what you feel is right for 'you' and what makes 'you' happy.

You should be able to disguise your new assets if you want to hun, although I'd prepare yourself for a possible two week time frame rather than 1 week depending on your recovery hunni. xx

Thank you for all your replies :) very helpful.

I dont need them to look after my daughter as she'll be at her dad's for 2 weeks.

I really hope I can get away with not telling them, as I know they'd be really upset and angry..... I'm forever trying to please them!

Off to Bath Clinic this afternoon, will let you know if they say any different to Transform

Can't advise on the really on the telling your mm issue. But a bit of info on the BMI Bath Clinic. I live in Somerset and the paper we get, the Cheddar Valley Gazette has an offer in it for the BMI Bath clinic. It says they will match any quote you have for an op!!
Now I got transform in Bristol down to £3795 for an overnight stay. I don't know anything about Richard Sutton but BMI surgeons are all on the GMC register as SPECIALISTS in Plastic surgery. They tend to be members of BAAPA and /or BAPRAS too so they are really well qualified.
I have a copy of the ad if you need it and could post it to you

Good Luck this afternoon

If you don't want to tell them, then I wouldn't. I had quite large implants and everyone knew I was getting it done, but those people I had not told were none the wiser, they didn't notice or say anything.

Hi hun, I told all my family except for my older and much wiser sister! She absolutely hates boob jobs and I was really petrified of her response! She found out on my op day and didn't speak to me for a good few weeks!!!! I was really upset! Fortunately when she finally saw me at a family get-together and saw that I hadn't gone for jordon look alikes she came round to some extent. She still doesn't think I needed it, but she accepts it!

Hi & welcome, I have been away for a while and just saw your post here... I agree with SS, I am in my early forties and like you didn't want to tell my parents, I got away with it, no one has noticed, before my ba I wore extra padding in all my bras for about a month!! and after wore heavy duty sb with lots of support so when they hugged me when they came round they didn't notice or hurt me!!!!

8 months on no one has yet clocked it at all! mind you I don't wear padded anymore, and I love it... good luck xxxxxxxxxx

Mine went totally mad (I'm 36), but soon came round, and it was lovely after being able to talk to my mum about it all and still is nice to share my recovery. They will explode, but they may well come to terms with it then. Think about that possibility and how nice that support might be in the aftermath:). But of course it's your body and you don't have to share it if you don't want to. Do what is right for you :) xxxxxxxx

Post by juicylucyk on 20th April 2010, 1:24 am

Hi Ju,

I was really really nervous about telling my parents. I opted with telling my mum first (get the hardest one out of the way!!!) and she then told my dad.

To be honest, I wouldn't have told them but I was worried in case anything happened and they would be more hurt that I hadn't told them etc.

My mum was actually really cool with the whole thing once I'd explain my reasons for having a BA and she's been really supportive. She's said that now I've had my BA, although she can see a bit of a difference in my size it's not a lot as I used to wear so much padding before hand lol!!!! I think she'll notice more when the weather gets a bit better and I'm wearing strappy tops and stuff.

It's entirely down to you, but I will say that my parents support has been fantastic.

Good Luck!!!

The only 2 people that know about my BA are my OH and my mum. My mum was really worried and scared about it at the beginning but after seeing how important it was to me and a few heart to hearts later, she came around and was and still is absolutely fantastic. I'm very close to my mum so for me it wouldn't have felt right doing it without her supporting me. She even paid for mine as part of my 30th bday present this year.

I'm equally as close to my dad, but I don't have that kind of relationship where I would tell him about my BA, everything else yes but not something like this. My dad seems none of the wiser, I too don't wear revealing clothes in front of my dad. Unfortunately I was poorly for about 10 days PO and had to lie to my dad and said I was sick because I had major food poisoning! Goodness knows how I got away with that as everytime he came to give me a hug I flinched away, something I have never done. I guess I just said my tum tum hurts or something like that!

I think as most of us have worn gel bras and lots of padding, we don't really look all that different in clothes so people that don't know, probably would not be able to tell. I'm sure you can disguise them quite easily hun. Good luck!
