Medication and GA Empty Medication and GA

Post by michas 22nd September 2009, 10:05 am

Ok - im asking this because I dont know any of you personally, so therefore it feels ok to admit it! but ive just been put on anti depressants by my doc and whilst I did hit rock bottom very recently, I seem to have miraculously bounced back and appear to be coping with the cr*p much better now.

When i went for my consultation I was asked was I on any medication. I wasnt. However now I am. Should I tell my surgeon? Might he then deem me not mentally sound for a BA do you reckon?! (I can tell you it will make me feel a whole lot better, and lack of boobies is absolutely not the cause of my recent low)...

Medication and GA Icon_smile I would tell them. Not because they will deem you unfit- just in case there are complications and you need other drugs which might have an adverse reaction to the AntiD's.

I would tell them like Jade said. Just incase they are going to react with anything or may lower the bodys natural defence to infection. Sorry i cant be of more help, try not to worry x x x

I'm on about 3 different types of meds (including AD's) and told my ps. Also, told him I had a history of depression at my consultation. Always best to be upfront with these things in case you do have a reaction. xxx

I guess you may be comfy just incase it puts your surgery back... understandable... how bout you check with your doctor if you are going there again so he call fill you in with any complications it may cause.. also ask if there is any other medicaiton you can take prior to the op.. kinda prepare yourself I guess before you speak to your surgeon.

You will be asked a few times on your journey before your op... I was asked at the post op visit and also on the day. As above definately discuss before your op.

I was on anti depressants citilopram (can't spell) when I went for my first consultation with my surgeon. They asked me about my mental health and why I was on them. They didn't see it as a problem. I was off them by the time I went for my op, but they didn't mind if I wasn't.
