Mentor, Motiva or Allergan?? Empty Re: Mentor, Motiva or Allergan??

Post by lairyfairie 10th January 2015, 7:50 pm

I haven't had any of them, I have Pure Polyurethene -Brazilian Furries. A friend of mine had Motiva and they have some kind of chip inside them which holds information about the implants. Your boobs need to be scanned with a reader! I think its related to the PIP implants and people not being able to easily identify if they had PIP or not - especially as its really easy to misplace the id cards. My friend says that it measures any changes in the implant too - such as if it swells or ruptures - but I am not 100% sure that's correct. A lot of other ladies on here have those you mentioned though.

I have the responsive Allergan Inspiras, which means they're 95% fill. They seem to be doing the job ok! They're all recommended implants, all CE approved in the UK.

The Mentor, Motiva and Allergan Soft touch are all filled with highly cohesive gel, meaning they have a 100% fill which helps lessen the risk of rippling and CC.

They're all pretty much the same really so as they're like for like, whichever you choose would be a good implant of choice being the newer 4th generation implants. Xx

Great to see you posted this sarahlou222 :seriously considering getting myself a little notepad to take notes haha,  this place is so informative.  Should just get rid of all PCs and refer patients here haha, I've learned more in a few days here than I have from being to numerous consultations and from browsing the web!!

Mentor, Motiva or Allergan?? Empty Re: Mentor, Motiva or Allergan??

Thank you. I'm glad it helped you too Laura!
I had a mentor and motiva in my hand earlier today. The motiva has less texture on the outside, and yes it had a chip! - the surgeon told me it was because of the PIP scandal and people thinking they had PIP when they didn't because they had not kept the paper work. The texture difference was apparently to stop CC (funnily enough the PCC had CC with Allergen and now swears by motiva)
You do get more straight answers on here Laura! - everyone says their company are the best.
THG say 'Mentor are the best because they are made by Johnson and Johnson since 1983'
Then THG say 'Mentor has been the same since 1983' he actually went as far as to say 'would you be happy to taking a medication that hadn't changed since 1983'

When we got back into the car I said 'If it aint broke don't fix it!!!' xx

Mentor, Motiva or Allergan?? Empty Re: Mentor, Motiva or Allergan??

Please remember that thg only starting pushing mentor as their preferred brand within the last year or so. So giving you a sales pitch based on them being the best since 1983 is a bit pointless as a year ago they were pushing allergans! It's all down to cost and the best bulk deal price they can buy them in at. That said, they are all good brand implants! Just ignore the sales cr@p and try and filter out other cr@p they've fed you to get a sale!x

I just became an active member! :)

Thank you Mammamia.. That's one reason why I thought I would ask the question on here.
I had used the search and notice a few other people talking about Motiva too, I wasn't sure whether there was more known about the 'new brand' since that thread :) xx

Hi ladies

I've chosen the motiva only for the guarantee and the info being on the chip ( that was just for my re-assurance just in case something happened and they happened to loose my info),
Sarahlou222 which type of implant are you thinking of having? Xx

Mentor, Motiva or Allergan?? Empty Re: Mentor, Motiva or Allergan??

Post by sarahlou222 11th January 2015, 9:57 am

If I went with Mr Foo, at the Spire Elland or Yorkshire clinic, he would use either allergan or mentor, which ever he deemed more appropriate as he says he is not restricted. I have the full consultation with him on Wednesday.

However I met Marcos Sfor... Yesterday at THG and they used Motiva, that's why I put the question out. I've done some research online and don't see a huge amount of difference. X
