recovery time
Hi all,
I'm having my op on the 21st of December and just wanted to know how long it took for you to feel a bit more 'yourself' after your op. I have 2 weeks off after the operation so I can chill out then and I work in a call centre so the work doesn't require me to do too much. I just wondered if 2 weeks is enough time? I know everyone heals differently but will 2 weeks be ok to get over the worst of it? xx

Re: recovery time
2 weeks should be fine to have off work in a call center!
We all recover differently...for me my turning point was day 8... Around the two week mark I wasn't in much discomfort anymore although you still need to take things slow, and then the only pain I had was my nipples were really sensitive in the bra and that went around the three week mark...
So it's individual but I think two weeks will be fine for your job :) xx

Re: recovery time
Thank you :) I think I'm just overly-worrying about it all at the moment.. just like to make sure I've sorted everything xx

Re: recovery time
You'll be fine with two weeks. My job is office based too and I returned to work at day 10 and I was fine. I went via train as had been advised not to drive for two weeks. I was tired out after the first full day back, but nothing that a cuppa and putting my feet up didn't solve!!
Not long now!!x

Re: recovery time
I had unders and for the 1st few days I thought I'd never be able to do anything for myself again... By the end of the 2nd week I was totally back to normal :) xx

Re: recovery time
Two week should be fine as long as you're not doing any lifting, over stretching etc. Driving may be a little uncomfortable, but you'll soon learn your limits of what you can and cant do.

Re: recovery time
Recovery time is different for everyone, it also depends on if you're having unders or overs. Unders may still be sore at 2 weeks post op but with painkillers and taking it easy (light duties) you should be fine, overs I think 2 weeks is plenty of time.
Keep lots of protein in your diet as this promotes fast healing and will get your energy back up, eggs, lean meats and nuts are all great all long with lots of vitamin rich green veg and you'll be fine in no time! x

Re: recovery time
I must admit I did take longer to get off the painkillers and I can normally handle ppain really well, after my section day 2 I was off pain relief and day 4 out and about on buses etc doing school run and hospital visits to see Ellie but I dont know what happened with my BA I just struggled xx

Re: recovery time
hun as long as you have a routine recovery you'll be absolutely fine with 2 weeks off :)
my turning point was day 4/5 and it just got better from there!
like was said above, yeah you may be tired after your first day back at work but then just take it easy in the evenings. at 2.5 weeks i was already meeting friends for a gentle drink in the pub :)
just make sure you look after yourself and preferably have some help for the first week, it will make recovery so much easier.
i had afternoon naps till about day 10 or 11, making sure to keep mobile inbetween though, and i think it helped, i gave my body lots of time to regenerate. x
