THE PILL
Is it right that I can just carry on the pill (Marvelon) when I have my op? I'm sure I had read somewhere that I had to stop before?

Re: THE PILL
It depends in your clinic and the type of pill your on hun. Some recommend you stop 2 weeks before your op. if in doubt give your clinic a call xx

I was allowed to stay on mine but some clinics don't like you to so give them a call xx

Re: THE PILL
Entirely depends on the clinic/surgeon. I was told I was ok on mine as it was a shorter procedure, but anything bigger and I would have had to come off it (tummy tuck or something). Give them a call to be sure.

Re: THE PILL
I was told I could keep taking it, my surgeon said that its such a short proceedures. I had heard it makes the risks of D.V.T higher. He said that I will have massaging boots on my legs to keep blood circulating.......so not to worry...... I do know some advise to stop but think its on longer surgery x

Re: THE PILL
Speak with your own clinic/surgeon Laura. They will advise what's best for YOU. Some will need to stop taking the pill, others won't. Whether you will or you won't will be entirely at your surgeons discretion hun. Xx
Re: THE PILL
it was them that said i didn't need to stop. a bit strange that some do and done don't, surely they should be the same?

Re: THE PILL
Not at all Laura. You'll find lots of differing opinions by surgeons here, but ultimately YOUR surgery is all about you lovely, so don't worry about anyone else instruction babe. You chose your surgeon and clinic because you felt they were the best for YOU. So what they instruct is all that matters hun. Xx
Re: THE PILL
It might increase the risk of DVT so its advised you don't take it on the lead up to surgery, mine has told me not to take it but understands that stopping it can be problematic so if I wish to continue taking it then I must understand that my risk is increased but only slightly.
I have taken it for about 7 years so I'm taking my first break from it so I'll see how it goes, I hope it doesn't mess my periods up though, Ive heard women having periods sooner than expected or fewer periods or going on then coming off their period every few days so hoping I have no side effects like that. So far so good. lol.
