Re: Unders?
I had partial unders, and can honestly say the pain has been completely bearable. I have cut down on painkillers and only used paracetomol and ibuprofen, and 2 codeine overall.
Are u having completely under? X

Re: Unders?
Hiya, I had my surgery for unders a week ago, and only needed to take painkillers for two days.
We are all different, my advice would be to have everything organised so that if you are knocked for six for a week it won't matter. Also if you are as fit and healthy as you can be before surgery the better you will recover.
Good luck!

Re: Unders?
hi hun,
the term unders is commonly used for partial under the muscle placement, as complete unders are very rarely used.
i thought my unders were going to be a lot more painful, but i've got to say in all honesty it was all so so manageable!!
i made sure to stay topped up on cocodamol for the first 3.5 days, then just paracetamol for a day, and then nothing!
only my antib's of course for the week then, but no painkillers after 4 days!
so please don't worry hun :) painkillers and icepacks are there to help you through it when you need them, but you will be fine! :)

Re: Unders?
I also had unders hun and like the girls have said it really wasnt all that bad! I was prepared for the worst but was very pleasantly surprised. If u keep ontop of your meds you probably wom't experience any pain at all! Discomfort is normal but i was never in serious pain! .... Morning boob was the only painful part but it subsides pretty quickly xxx

Re: Unders?
You're gonna be just fine Missvmac.
Some women with partials bounce back far quicker than women with overs!
How much discomfort you'll experience depends very much on how invasive the surgery is babe. But the discomfort afterwards is NEVER anything you won't be able to cope with hun. Xx

Re: Unders?
I had partials too hun, I had no pain and no discomfort at all. And the only painkillers I took were the ones they made me take in the hospital.

Re: Unders?
It's more an aching than actual pain, like you've done way too many push ups. I stuck with the codeine for 3 days, then paracetamol for a week, but after that just as and when. But it's nothing you can't cope with.

Re: Unders?
I had partials, I didn't find it painful as such just uncomfortable. My arms were a bit sore, I couldn't unscrew a lid from a jar, or it hurt to even flush the loo! Some rib ache and backache. Stopped my painkillers after day 3, which most women find the most uncomfortable, but honestly it wasn't that bad. First week is the worst, tired, GA leaving the body and healing. I found the antibiotics the worst thing! Felt queasy and bit spaced out x

Re: Unders?
I had my BA a week ago. I'm still taking co-codamol which is making me bloat up. It's less and less each day and the pain isn't really pain it's just uncomfortable. I panicked a little when I first woke up and the pressure on my chest was a bit crazy but this soon subsides. As everyone has said above its manageable :)

Re: Unders?
From day 4 I only took painkillers during the night. Leading up to that I used to take 2 or 3 doses and never needed the 4. It's more uncomfortable than painful, you will be fine xx

Re: Unders?
hey special k, yeah most 'unders' are partial unders. the most part of the implant is covered by the muscle, the bottom part isnt as that would mean another process of loosening another muscle, which tends to not be necessary, this at least is what i came across in my research!

Re: Unders?
ps partials are also called bilateral in medical terms x

Re: Unders?
Full unders are only really done for reconstruction purposes i.e mastectomy. For a straight forward BA everyone will have the implant placed 'partially' under the muscle with the muscle being dissected to release the implant at the bottom. Xx
Re: Unders?
I also had unders plus an uplift two weeks ago. I only took painkillers for the first week (as ibrufen for swelling reduction as well) and antiBs.

Re: Unders?
Heya
im having unders. My surgeon said its good to have unders cause as you get older your natural breast tissue reduces so best to have unders if you dont have alot of tissue (im 32b/c at the mo)...however as its good to get them done every 10 years seems abit pointless his comment then...hmm :screwy:thats made me think now!!!

Re: Unders?
I thought I'd be able to make up my own mind about where to have the implant? Is it not the case that implants can effect cancer screening? That was why I'd planned to have unders but I'm getting the jist that you don't have a choice in the matter? X
