There is no breat way to do this accurately, you will get the same varied measurements as the shops, different makes of bra's will also be different in sizes so it's hard to get an exact size hun, the online calculators are the worst offenders for giving you the wrong measurement so steer clear of them, the best way is to go to a reputable store like Bravissimo or M&S and see what they come up with.

sorry this si not gonna be alot of help for you xx

<tr><td width="100%">Your Correct Fitting

Are you sure you know your size?

To check your bra size, you need only take two measurements which are -
1. Underbust Measurement
Measure under your bust:
add 4ins. if the measurement obtained is an even number of inches
add 5ins. if the measurement obtained is an odd number of inches.

(For example, if your underbust measurement is 31ins., add 5ins. to obtain bra size 36, or, if your underbust measurement is 30ins. add 4ins. to obtain bra size 34.)
2. Overbust Measurement
Measure round the fullest part of your bust to determine Cup size.
If the bust measurement: is:
same as your bra size, your Cup size is A.
1in. more gives Cup size B
2in. more gives Cup size C
3in. more gives Cup size D
4in. more gives Cup size DD
5in. more gives Cup size E
and so on through F, FF and G

An example:
Underbust measurement of
29in. + 5in. = bra size 34
Overbust measurement of
34in. = Cup A

So the correct fitting would be 34A

Post by Angelpie 10th June 2009, 3:38 pm

Arghhh! I give up with them all!! As SS has said go to M&S or another reputable lingerie place. I was measured at John Lewis as a 34ff and have got some lovely comfy bras from them... I also have a Freya bra in a 34f, a Katie Price bra in a 34e, an Optima bra in a 36e. All the different manufacturers all seem to come up slightly different.

Oh and as a matter of curiosity... I have just tried that online method that SS posted and I am apparently a 38b according to that!

The important thing is that the wires on an under-wired bra actually go around the outside of your breast tissue and don't dig into you at all.

Good luck... and have fun trying on lots of lovely bras!

we would all say they were right then wouldn't we  i think whoever invented these calculators, online or self measurements, clearly has an issue with big busted ladies and refuse to admit any size bigger than a D due to sheer jealousy.......we should devise our own method just for us BJSF boobie girls.
Looks like it's trial & error for a while hun, you know when you have a good fit, the back doesn't ride up & is not too tight, the cup sits around the whole of your boob with no loose fabric & no gap in-between your boobs at the front, it should sit comfortably against your skin, can't wait to find out what size you are now, it's got me bugged now too!!!! Shocked xx

Bust Measurement

Taking your own bust measurement to find out your correct bra size can
be quite a challenge. There are many websites which offer advice
involving using a normal tape measure, taking over and under bust
measurements then subtracting or adding another number, working out the
difference between two other numbers and then coming up with a bra
size.

With the best will in the world, these rules aren't going to suit
everyone as all women’s boobs vary in size, shape, volume and spacing.
Your breasts may have a greater volume and the bottom, top or at the
sides and this will make a difference to your bust measurement and the
size of bra you need to make sure that you are comfortable and
supported.

We can suggest the specialist bust measuring tape that is shown at the
bottom of the page, doing away with the need for complicated
calculations, but there is also another route you can follow by trying
on a bra in front of a mirror and seeing which areas are right and
which areas need attention.

Back Size – to check that you are wearing the correct back size:

- The strap should be firm, but comfortable, around your body, Most
of the support from a bra comes from the back so if this is too big
then you are not property supported.
- The strap should be horizontal around your body. Stand side on at
your mirror and have a good look, the strap should not be riding up.
- You should be able to run two fingers underneath the band of the bra all the way round (snugly).

Cup Size – to check that you have the correct cup size:

- Ensure that your boobs are sitting within the cups and that there is
a smooth line where the top of the bra cup meets your bust.
- Your breasts shouldn't bulge over the top or out of the sides of your bra, even if it is a low cut plunge style.
- Any underwiring should lie flat against your rib cage between your
breasts and should not rub anywhere, dig in or poke out at the front.

The chances are that you might be wearing the wrong size bra and may
need either a slightly smaller back size with a larger cup size, the
most frequent correction, or a slightly larger back size with a
correspondingly smaller cup size. So, start with your existing bras and
follow the suggestions above for a more accurate bust measurement and
more comfortable bras.

One that worked for me is adding 2 inches to the figure you get from measuring your band size under your breasts, and then subtracting that from the cup size measurement (across breasts) to get the cup size
