No need for further surgery - yay!
Hi girls
Sorry took so long to update, just not had a minute! Went back to my PS on Wednesday and he is quite happy with the way my wound is healing! He says it is unlikely I will need to go for further surgery and Ive just to be treated with general wound management (Thank God!)
The wound itself is still leaking fluid, but only a small amount and only from the one opening now on the one side (the other side looks like its healed). When I say its still leaking fluid, it is light exudate which now means I can change dressing every 2-3 days. About a week ago I was changing the dressing once sometimes twice daily!!! Finish antibiotics today and swab came back with a very light growth of staph aureous which is sensitive to the a/b im on, ie - very slight infection, but am clinically well and no symptoms other than exudate.
My PS is confident that it will be all healed in about a weeks time, he is off on holiday now so Ive to return to his colleage (another consultant PS) who will see me a week today. Im quite happy about this, as even though he is purely looking after me under the care of my own surgeon, in a way it will be like having a second opinion.
All in all, its very good news My boobie issue prob sounds yuck, but actually despite this, they are both healing nicely and am very happy with them (has put things in perspective in a way - dont care about size, gap, etc - just really happy i get to keep them!!)
When Im all healed will get a nice new avi up for you all
Hope everybody well and thanks for your ongoin support with this!! Lotsa love xx

Re: No need for further surgery - yay!
Phew! That must be such a relief for you hun and I'm so pleased for you
Little tip for you hun - Whilst healing, fresh air is fabulous! So if you're able, laying with a window open and lying on your back exposing the wound to the fresh air for a short while everyday will really help to accelerate the healing. It's like a wonder drug! LOL.
Hope you're soon to be 'fully healed' and look forward to hearing how you get on next week. xx

Re: No need for further surgery - yay!
Oh fingers crossed girls! Its lovely to have all your support
I havent been on the forum much, as I kind of wanted to just get this dealt with and probably wasnt going to be saying anything constructive as I was regretting the whole thing for a while lol!!
I certainly am an advocate now for REALLY looking after yourself post-op (ahem, ahem - yes I know I am a nurse!!! too good at looking after others and not myself!!).......as much as this whole thing wasnt entirely my fault.......I do believe there was an element of that in it!!
Not completely out the woods yet, but fingers crossed am over the worst of it, and will be plain sailing from now on, and can pass on my experience to others....
Thanks my lovelies xx
