Pre Op Not Happy :0(

Hi Ladys

Have just been for my pre op and she said my blood pressure was high have never had high blood pressure its always been bordering low so have got to go to doctors has anyone else had this at their pre op ? my measturements were 135 over 99 is that bad ? don't want to have the op posponed Pre Op Not Happy :0( 221105

Im sure its nothing to worry about hun, maybe they just want you to double check that your ok.

Had you worked yourself up before going in maybe? Dont strss about it you will make yourself worse,you wil be fine Towie.

Yes sounds as if you were nervous, I always try to take a deep breath and count slowly while they're taking my blood pressure, that will lower it a bit. Also, did you eat a lot of salty foods that day? That may have affected it. Drink TONS of water in the morning, no salt, and relax, and try again Pre Op Not Happy :0( 321562

dont be late for it in fact turn up early. i went for a checkup and like you my blood pressure is always loooww, and i was running late so ran all the way there and the doc looked surprised. it was waaaayy up! lol dur... Pre Op Not Happy :0( 869500

Mine was proper PROPER high on the day of my op. I had warned them in advance that I tend to get white coat hypertension and they could see that I had some more satisfactory readings at earlier visits so they just went ahead. Mine absolutely wouldn't come down on the day but I'm sure that if you just sit and chill for a few minutes yours will.

I didn't think of that - yes mine was probably also high just from anxiety (I'd never had GA before) but the GA will knock you right out!!

The normal range is 120/80 to 140/90 yours is a bit high, but might be because your nervous. Try lowering your salt in take, exercise more, give up alcohol for a bit . The lower it is the better.

Hi Lady's

Thank you for all your help and surport i got my blood pressure checked today at a walk in clinic and all was fine so i phoned the nurse and told her but she said i need to get my GP to write and say it is fine (panicing as trying to get an appointment with her that isn't a month away is near impossible ) the nurse also said that Mr M might want an ECG done !!!! my blood pressure is fine this is starting to stress me more now grrrr

I don't understand why you can't get a note from the walk-in clinic saying your BP is fine - surely they have doctors and nurses there who could say what your BP was???
