Re: Hospital Bag??
I'd say take your dressing gown and slippers, you may have to walk to theatre, you don't want to be showing everyone your in your hospital gown. The NHS will probably only give you water, so if you'de rather have juice, take some hun. I also took some mints, boiled sweets, snacky things, magazines, ipod, phone and the usual toiletry items. Thats all I can think of Sarah, I'm sure someone else will be along to offer more advice. xx

Re: Hospital Bag??
I should imagine you'll need your dressing gown and slippers babe, you'd have quite a walk down a ward and possibly other patients with you I should imagine, so I'd take them with you babe.
Definately take mags, juice and snacks! And Mints! your mouth feels foul when you wake and you're really dry! xx

Re: Hospital Bag??
Hi sars
In an NHS hospital I doubt if you will have to walk to theatre, you will probably have to be wheeled down on a trolley (I had mine on a hospital and they don't let you walk!!). You feel a bit daft lying there though!!
I used my dressing gown... you might have your surgical gown on for an hour or two before you go to theatre... with a dressing gown you can keep your backside covered as they gape open at the back!!
Slippers are also handy for that time as you pace around waiting!!
I had a good book and read a lot of it, I;m glad i took it.
I also took my Ipod and when i couldn't sleep at night i was very glad of it.
Take some wipes for your armpits as you won't be allowed deodrant that morning and when you come round and wake up properly you can freshen them up with a wipe!!
Make sure your mobile is charged, if they let you use it then texting/calling people to say you are OK passes some time!!
Loads of luck xx

Re: Hospital Bag??
Def dressing gown & slippers :-) I had to walk down & if i hadn't had the gown i wouldve had a bare bum!!! lol. I would hazzard a guess that most people walk to theatre?? There's no reason why you can't unless you are disabled. You won't have had your anesthetic at that point either, you get that when you get to the anethatists room.
Lip Balm was my saviour!!! but then i am a lipgloss addict...lol. Oh a hair band too as i just anted my hair off my face. Plenty of magazines too......TV was just so boring & i am not one for listening to music unless i am out running :-)

Re: Hospital Bag??
I hardly took anything with me when I went! I didn't need my dressing gown or slippers as I wasn't allowed to walk to theatre. I only took magazines and toiletry bits and that was all I needed. Don't forget your hairbrush though, that was one thing I was glad of!
