I was reading through some older posts in the forum before and there was a mention of taking medications before your boob job to help them heal (i think its called Arnica), does anybody know where this is available, and when your supposed to take it and stop taking it etc. Also any one had any good experiences with it, and is it reccomended by surgeons ( sorry bout all the questions, theres about 50 in this tiny paragraph) xxx thanks

I had my first BA with Transform almost 4 years ago and it wasn't recommended back then so I didn't take it, I healed well with no bruising at all, I had my second surgery in November last year and this time I was told to take Arnica under the instruction of my clinic, I bought it from Holland and Barratt and started taking it a week before my surgery and stopped taking it a week after, I had a much more intrusive surgery this time, but took a long time to heal and had a lot of bruising....

My opinion, is take it if you 'want' to as long as your clinic/surgeon OKs you taking it. I didn't find it helped my recovery in any way and when having a standard BA I healed quickly with no problems at all without it. xx

I didnt take any, but I did have quite a lot of bruising but mainly on 1 side?

Id save your money if I was you, and spend it on chocolate to help pick you up after surgery!!

I was advised to take Arnica before and after. I was quite surprised that a medic recommended it, I always thought they were quite cynical about alternative therapies.

Took it beforehand as I figured it couldn't do any harm but haven't bothered to go and buy some more now that they've run out. As far as I'm aware they're nothing more than overpriced sugar pills!! I'm bruised because I've just had major surgery and no simple tablet is going to change that, only time and my body's natural healing process.

I much prefer the spending your money on chocolate recommendation instead!!

I think its down to personal preference. I bruise really easily and did take it before surgery and had no bruising. I also find if I take it before botox it stops the bruising but this could just be coincidence!

Well put, Sally! Sorry, I am a natural born cynic, sadly not a natural born D-cup though, lol!!

Hi
I bruise easily, but wasn't told to take it and so didn't. I had a yellow bruise by my scar on my left boob after surgery which went by 9 days post op, and no one saw it anyway as i wasn't taking my bra off the first week anyway!
I'd go with what your surgeon says xx

I'm taking in and I think it is helping as I bruise really easily and they normally last for a good few weeks on me (really clumsy, lol).

I haven't got any boob bruising (3 days post-op might be too soon though, i'm not sure) but have a lot of facial bruising from having my nose done at the same time.

I started taking as directed after the surgery and one of the huge bruises that started coming out the morning after has almost gone. There are still bruises on my eyes and cheeks and i'm swollen, but nowhere near as bad as I thought i would be, especially after some of the photos i saw.

Its hard to say whether i have just been lucky or whether its the arnica, but i think i'm going to keep taking it just in case.

I took arnica for 4 days pre op and 3 days post op as it says don't take for longer than 7 days. I'm not sure whether they helped or not as I still bruised a bit and they did seem to just taste of sugar but I still took them anyway just in case and I would take them again in the future just in case! x

Hi,

I didn't take Arnica. I was told that I could if I wanted to.

I didn't have that much bruising and what I did have faded quite quickly.

Like Zoeb said, no one will see your bruising as you'll be covered up in your sports bra!

It's down to you hun but personally I'd say save the money to go towards chocolate like SallySlap said. Or towards bras (they cost a fortune!!!)

I didn't use anything on my scars either although I know a lot of people recommend Bio Oil and silicone sheets. I believe in letting nature take it's course and your body heal itself!
