Different clinics offer different advice babe, you should always follow the advice given by your own clinic. If you feel you'd rather not drink for longer than the two days before that you've been instructed by your clinic then go ahead, but if not, you should be fine to follow the advice given.
At your pre-op you'll go through your medical history, have your weight, height and BMI checked and your pre-op pics taken. If it's felt needed you'll also have blood tests and possibly MRSA swabs taken at this time, but these tests are only 'usually' done if your clinic feels you have reason for them to be taken some clinics do take bloods as a routine check though and some don't bother at all.
You'll also be given advice for your post-op care and that's about it I think.
Good luck quitting smoking hun, keep at it, it really will help with your recovery hun. xxx

Re: The pre opp
I never had my height and weight checked or any bloods taken but I did have the MRSA screening a week before my op. If your letter says to not drink alcohol 48 hours before then that should be fine to have a drink up until then.

Re: The pre opp
Hi,
I drank on the Saturday night and had my op on the Tuesday and was fine.
I just had my height and weight checked and my pre op photos taken. They also went through my history and checked if I had any conditions or was on any medication. I didn't have to have blood tests or MRSA tests done as I wasn't considered "at risk" of anything. If I'd have had certain existing conditions or had been in hospital, I would have had to have had them done.
Good luck!
