How tight should support bras be??
Hi Girls,
Been wearing my support bra for couple of days now (surgical front-fastening one provided by my PS) and whilst I find it far less painful when I have it on, I am finding it quite uncomfortable where it presses on my incisions (7 days post op today). I presume this is something I just need to persevere with whilst things settle and the bra "gives" a little but wanted to check if anyone else had had the same? Got my follow up with PS tomorrow so will ask her too.
Thks, TC x

Sounds like the band is irritating your incisions hun, you could try putting some wadding of cotton wool between your incisions and the band of the bra to give some extra padding and hopefully make you feel more comfortable hunni. Or maybe ask at the clinic tomorrow if you might be better with a bigger band size to accomodate the swelling.
Let us know how you get on tomorrow. xxx

Re: How tight should support bras be??
Hi hun...
I'm in similar position as you, I think its largely due to your incisions healing and at 7-10days, if you've had sutures, they are due for removal. I am also due follow-up tomorrow and I'm 100% sure when my sutures are removed, the discomfort will reduce...

Re: How tight should support bras be??
the first couple days after my op i was in pain with the same problem ....my solution was to do what Cookie suggested and pad it out with wads of cotton wool - it did actually ease the pressure xx

Re: How tight should support bras be??
I was browsing as a guest on an American Forum recently and the pro's over there swear by sanitary pads stuck to your bra instead of cotton wool, quite ingenious really!! I would probably have thought they mean the little panty liners though, got an image of massive maternity pads stuck under your bra while out shopping!!
The above is probably old news to you all and been dispensed of in favour of the old faithful cotton wool!!

Hey Soph, I know - great isn't it! Nearly laughed em off tho when I read your story - I had the exact same experience with the bedpan - had to get the nurse to run the taps to help me go even though I was bursting!! The third time I insisted on getting out of bed, drains and all, and that was much better Happy recovering! Toppers x

Re: How tight should support bras be??
Hi Ladies,
I had my 7 day follow up appt earlier and everything is fine Had my dressings changed and found the reason for the pain from the support bra is a small blister so my PS has given me some additional gauze pads to cushion it. Thanks for all the words of advice - you are all stars! TCx

Ha ha, yes, thanku - think I would have to be in serious pain to go for the sanitary towel option although I can see the logic..
