Implant removed due to infection
Hii Girlies..
Looking for some advise from anyone else this has happened to. Had to get right breast implant removed 3wks post op due to infection My surgeon is saying that he can't replace implant until the infection is completely cleared up which could take anything upto 6months
Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: Implant removed due to infection
Hello Ashley and welcome to the forum :wavey:
I am so sorry to hear about your infection and loss of one implant =(
I lost my right implant through infection and i can sympathise with you alot, there is nothing that anyone can say to you to make you feel better but we can offer support for you along the way while you wait for it to be replaced.
It can take upto 6 months (mine was longer due to other reasons) but can also be as soon as 3 months so try to spend this time being as good to yourself as you can with a good diet etc to help get rid of any nasties lurking inside.
If or when you use a silicone enhancer to even out your breasts then try to remember to give your breast a break from it as often as you can so to give it as much 'rest' as possible without being squashed because it can come quite uncomfortable for you and cause the breast to sweat especially on hot days.
It's not a pleasant experience and leaves you with thoughts of 'why me' and feeling very disheartened indeed, it's very unfortunate this has happened to you and i hope you have nice supportive family & friends behind you to help you along the way to recovery.
Please feel free to ask any questions or even just to say how you are feeling, it's always good to share your feelings it helps ease them a little.
We do have a diary section on here too if you would like to have one of your own feel free to open one to jot down your daily feelings etc, i found this a great help too.
Sending you a big hug

Re: Implant removed due to infection
Hi really sorry to hear about this. i nearly had mine removed due to infection i had to go and stay in the hospital for a week on an anti biotic drip and have surgery to see whether it had spread further. I went down to surgery with my mind set that it was going to be removed. my heart goes out to you so much! time will fly by honestly and before you know it you'll have them both back. it wont be forever. My surgeon said that if they had to take mine out i would of had it out for about 3months maybe longer. it all depends how long it takes to heal. When it all happened to me I came to the girls on here for advice and they were all amazing so anytime your feeling down or got any questions this is the place to come! hope your ok and keep us updated! xxxxxxxxx

Sorry to hear you're having a bad time. Did they say if there was any reason for the infection or is it just one of those things?
Hope you get it sorted soon x
