Oh no......
Im 3 wks post re-op, woke up this morning quite sore, feels like im dry as a bone on my scars.....
I get my Elizabeth Arden out, sit and massage with (scars included), and they feel instantly better.....
I sit here and read posts and what do i read? quote after quote saying dont put anything on your scars !!!! AARRGGHHH
Im petrified now ive done some serious harm.....Iv already had an implant fall out.....this op was to replace it, i havent got as much of a scar this time, as the previous op was a ba/lift and I had terrible wound breakdown that started happening about the same time (3 wks after)...
Any advice for a numpty ??
Thanks in advance ladies xx

Hi Gayley.
Firstly, don't panic!
The reason you're told not to put anything on your scars until they are 'fully healed' is because they are at risk of infection and it's best until you're healed to keep the wounds as dry as possible to allow the new scar tissue to form.
If you are allowed to shower now, just wash your boobs babe and ensure after showing that the incisions are totally dry. I use a hairdryer to be sure and as I have taken rather a long time for my wounds to close (had an infection, and stitch ulcers) I was also instructed to leave my boobs bare for an hour each day to ensure they are getting air to them to allow them to heal.
Keeping them dry is essential at this point babes, so don't be putting any more creams or anything on them, but don't worry either, just keep checking your wounds and keep 'em dry!

Just to add, for anyone else reading this - it's always best to speak with your surgeon before applying ANYTHING to your scars, the general advice from most surgeons is to wait 6 weeks, but always best to check to ensure all is OK for YOU!.
Re: Oh no......
Are your scars completely closed?? I shouldn't worry yourself too much about this unless you feel like you've opened yourself up.
Seek adviice from your nurse as to when its safe - I can't remember when I start to massage mine but it was quite early. I think the product you're using is full of perfumes and alcohol which I would avoid. When you get the go ahead to start massaging, I'd use something more natural, I use a blend of pure plant oils, no mineral oil, perfumes or alcohol...

Thanks Cookie....Youd have thought id bloody learnt by now....but was never told that....nurses always advised to get them wet....showers and such, to kind of get them "weathered" if you like...
I bolted upstairs and attempted to wash off what id put on, lets hope no damage was done.....
Thanks again for your prompt response.....Im paranoid enough as it is, so i really appreciate it..... xx

Re: Oh no......
If you've been told you can shower then that's cool babe, although having probs with my wounds healing I can only offer you the advice I had and my wounds are now closed thank goodness. Keeping them dry was literally drummed into me to ensure the boobs were given every chance to fully heal.
It's totally understandable how you're feeling after all you've been through hun, I'm paranoid enough as it is and didn't go through half as much as you have!

Blast this no edit button! LOL
Just to say again, great you can shower, but again, ensure your scars really are fully dry before dressing. Keeping them dry is really important.

Re: Oh no......
Hi Bambi...Yes theyre completely closed and beginning to scab....quite a nice feeling considering ive spent since last July with 2 gaping holes on each boob.....
I will definately take your advice and purchase something more appropriate to apply....old habits die hard i suppose...ive used EA eight hour cream for evrything, and swear by the stuff...when i had the tapes removed last week, my sides were incredibly sore....1 dose of EA it vanished....not the same thing though if we are talking internal healing eh?? Thanks for taking the time to reply....its very much appreciated

Re: Oh no......
Maybe ask this question to our resident surgeon? He wont give medical advice as such but might be able to tell you what the risks are?
I'm sure it will be fine, i read someone who is allowed to put stuff on their scars after 2weeks so i think it depends on your healing and surgeons advice, don't panick hun, you will be fine!
