I just can't believe it!! Empty I just can't believe it!!

Post by Funkygirl 15th January 2010, 2:23 pm

Okay, well I haven't been measured, bra size that is, since I was 18 and my mum dragged me to M & S. I was told then that I was indeed a small 32A (to my annoyance lol). Now, when I went to University I really got into the padded bra craze and well took it upon myself at 21 to start wearing a size 32B. I just went into a shop one day, tried on the 32B and low and behold it actually did fit and didn't look bad (well psychologically anyway). So ever since then (I'm now 29) I have worn size 32B and well just with a whole lot of padding, chicken fillets and the rest.

Bearing in mind I have never been measured since, I woke up this morning and really had the urge to go into town and get measured (probably so I wouldn't get a shock at consultation lol). So I popped into M & S and after measuring me the lady said I was a 30D, which is a 32C she said. Now this is ridicolous I thought, I have very small boobies but they can't measure a 32C, so I had her measure me again and apparently that's what I am. I was very confused as I really thought I was a 32A (big) - 32B (small).

Anyway I needed a second opinion so off I went to la Senza. Now I love la senza and have bought alot of bras from here (size 32B) and to me they don't always fill out completely but I just pull the bra down alittle and have been wearing this size over the years (again a psychological thing). So she measured me and apparently i'm a 30C, which is a 32B. Okay, well at least both places are saying almost the same although it's weird thinking I'm a 32C because I really don't look like a C at all, more like a big A, small B...very confused... I just can't believe it!! 751387 I just can't believe it!! 727885 I just can't believe it!! 77873

So, the dilema I have now, is prior to getting measured today, I was going to tell the surgeon that I want to look like a 32C/32D (I though this was big). I was thinking that a 32D would look quite big on my small frame, but now she's telling me i'm a 32C. I can't believe I was looking to only go up to a 32C/32D. I mean I want some big boobies, mine are really small, so now I don't know whether I should be looking at a 34D to get a decent size? I'm so confused, I don't want to go through it all and there not be much difference, I want a good size pair of boobies as I really don't have that at the moment...

Has anyone had this issue, can they advise on size. I am just sooooooo confused and worried now... I just can't believe it!! 476424 I just can't believe it!! 476424 I just can't believe it!! 476424

Thanks girlies!!

Hi hun, I think if its confusing you too much forget about talking to your ps about bra sizes as they dont really work in that anyway as all manufacturers have different measurements which was evident from your outing.
I would take some pics in of looks you like so your ps knows where you're coming from and maybe ask to try some implant sizes on at your consultation (i found this really helpful) as that will give you both an idea of what you're going for x

Hi Nads,

Yeah the whole size thing is really confusing me, clearly I thought 32C/32D was pretty big, but if I'm being told I'm measuring a 32C, then it won't be that big on me at all. I just don't understand it because I am very small in the chest area.

I will take some pictures hun, clearly I have no idea of how sizes work or anything I just can't believe it!! 751387 . I thought I would take some pictures (topless) from the interent and then maybe some in clothes to give the PS some idea of where I'm coming from...god it's going to be harder than I thought to explain what I want. I will also try on some implants.

Thanks so much for your advice hun! x x I just can't believe it!! 184153

Yeah i would agree with nads hun, bra sizes get really confusing and surgeons work with CC's i just told my surgeon the look i was going for instead of sizing, also implants measure bigger than they actually look.

Hi hun if you are a 30-32 band size depending on the shop you cant's got up to a 34 band you will still be between a 30 and 32, just the cup size will change, so if you are a 30C it's the same as a 32B, because if you go up a band size you go down a cup size, not sure why, it's just the way it works. So seeing as you already measure a 30C you would probably want to look a 30DD to notice a change.
But as the girls say photo's speak louder than words.

Yeah, it's weird the way your perception of size changes. And the relationship between band size and cup size is quite important actually. So if someone says 'DD' we tend to think HUGE - that's motorcycle-helmet size! But on a 30 back it isn't actually that enormous. It's only if, say, it's on a 40 inch back that it starts to get really big. on a 30 back, it's a good size, yes, but not silly.

Pictures are a good way to go ...

Hi Hun

I was the same as you. I wore 34a for years then when I went to M&S to get a sports bra ready for the big occasion, they measured me as a 34c. I couldnt believe it but it fitted great even though it had no padding and wasnt very complimentary.
Now I'm wearing 34f in M&S, but a 34 band size from Asda is too big, and I ordered some bras from internet in 34f and the cups are slightly wrinkled so I prob need an E. So confusing!!!!! Need to get myself into town and go to La Senza & Debenhams me thinks so I can try them on.

By the way I dont look like an F, maybe a DD

Hey ladies thanks so much for the advice, all this sizing business is really a mindfield! I can't believe that my perception and understanding of bra sizes is so off base I just can't believe it!! 751387

It's so true when someone says DD, you immediately think HUGE, but like you said Annie on a 30 back it may not look as big as we think and it's good to know Breasticles that I'm not alone when it comes to understanding how the world of bra sizes work, yeah get yourself down to la senza and Debenhams and get trying!

misf1 - you raise a really good point that I would just like some clarification on, see for some reason I thought that you could go up a band size if that's what you want (why I thought this goodness only knows, I probably just made it up myself!), but it makes sense now that it's the cup size that goes up, not the band size. So, I'm a 30C at the moment and so I would like to look like a 32DD, so what is the equivalent of a 32DD in a back size 30? Would it be a 30E? I think I would see a really good difference if I went for this size, what do you think?

One of the girls very kindly let me look at some pictures and she has the look and size that I am thinking for me. You are so right ladies, seeing pictures of sizes that you are considering helps so much.

Thanks everyone! I just can't believe it!! 184153

Well with the band size going up, straight after the operation you will probably go up a band size and it's adviseable to go at least one to 2 sizes bigger to account for swelling, however the swelling subsides and you will go back to you normal band size. Losing and putting on weight can affect you band size and also some shops you can be a 30 and others a 32. Other than that you will stay the same. The equivalent to a 32DD is a 30E yes. The other question is do you want to look a 32DD/30E or do you want to measure it?
Our boobs tend to measure much bigger than they actually look after a BA so if you measure a 32DD you may only look a C/D
I would try not to worry too much about sizes and look more at pictures and the outcome you want visually rather than by bra size. Surgeons don't tend to work by cup size.
I'd be more than willing to share my pics with you if I haven't already done so (I do tend to forget).

Hi misf1, thanks so much for your advice, I do feel like I'm starting to, I say starting to get my head round all this sizing business! Oooo I had a guess at that and got it right.. I just can't believe it!! 43418 that a 32DD is equivalent to a 30E, I'm learning! I hadn't even thought of that, whether I want to measure a 30E or look like a 30E. Well I guess I would want to look like a 30E/32DD as after seeing some pictures of this size, that's the look and size I want mine to look like. I don't want to look like a C/D as that's not much change at all for me. Thanks for giving me that food for thought thou, I'm learning new things everyday!

Yes I would really appreciate seeing your piccys, I was going to ask you so thanks for offering.

Thanks again hun! x x I just can't believe it!! 184153
