17 days post op, still have a stitch in my scar? Empty 17 days post op, still have a stitch in my scar?

Post by Nicky19781 1st March 2009, 1:43 pm

Hi ladies

Im 17 days post op, i had 380cc unders with mr mounir at transform

I had my stitches out last Saturday (9 days post op) and the nurse left a stitch in, im not sure why she did this but I just assumed it would disolve or would just come out by itself. The stitch looks like a little piece of string, I stupidly gave it a little pull yesterday thinking it might come out Rolling Eyes it didn't and was quite sore when I pulled it, anyway its now quite red and sore around the area, ive been putting Savlon on it and covering it up with a sterile dressing. I called Transform yesterday and left a message but nobody has got back to me, Ive called them today too but have just got the answerphone.

Has anyone else had this? any advice would be very much appriciated Heart

Thank you

hi hun, i had the same thing. my scar wasn't healing around it at all...

i had to go back to the clinic in the end and get it cut off, it was a knot that just wouldn't disolve..

if you can't get in touch with the clinic could you give your gp a call and get the nurse to snip it off??

Hiya hun, mine wer left in as i have thekind you let drop off not remove but the nurse told me not to put ANYTHING on them as they are still in theory open where the stitch is coming out so you could cause a bit of an infection if you start putting cream etc on so personally i would stop the savlon.
After my first BA, i still had bits of stitch at 6 weeks and it can take that long for them to fully dissolve so try to leave it well alone but contact your nurse and see if she can trim it down for you x

Hiya

I had this - I just gently scratched at it this morning and it came away, and was completely healed underneath so I think it was ready to come off. If it's sore I would try again to get hold of your nurse and get some advice...

Good luck

It might be an internal stitch sticking out hun which would dissolve on its own, i would call them again tomorrow for help as it might need to be trimmed x

Thanks for your replies ladies Heart think I'll try and call Transform again tomorrow or maybe get an appointment with a nurse at my local doctors
