HELP!!! incisions....
Hi,
Sorry to bother you all again but I am 10 days post-op and last week one of my incisions was niggling me (think the sports bra was rubbing on it). Was at nurse on Friday and she said I was healing beautifully, but the one that had been niggling me was a bit red. Today hubby changed steri strips and one incision is healing so much better than the other. I can't feel the other incision at all, yet that is the breast that is still slighlty swollen but the right one which is itchy and irritating is softening up. Is this normal? do the incisions heal differently? should I look out for anything? I am so worried something is going wrong I feel sick but want to catch it early.
Thanks
lis

Re: HELP!!! incisions....
HI hun i had the both my scars feeling fab untill about 15 days 3 days after my 10 day check ( that went very well scars both healed perfect my right scar one suddenly started hurting At the end i thought id pulled it & was worred that i had a infection, the pain got so bad i could hardly move so after 3 days being in pain i got my hubby to take the steri strips off & i had a tiny hole on the end with a lump under it. Turned out to be stitch coming to the suface which im told is very commen at the ends off scars. I went to my g.p as it takes me 2 hours to get to my transforms nearest office & my g.p just kept a eye on it for me every 3 days just to make sure i didnt get a infection & inbetween days i just left the steri strip on & didnt mess with it.
I later realised the pain was coming from the middle off my scar & ran down to the top off my ribs & it turned out i had a mondors cord! I pushed ice wrapped in a tea towel on it & after 2 days off doing that it was gone.
If you have any worried its best to get looked at hun to be on the safe side it put ya mind at rest

Re: HELP!!! incisions....
Thanks for that you've put my mind at rest. Just googled mondors chord and from what you've described it sounds like that. I am right handed and it's the right breast so I don't know if that's got anything to do with it. Going to keep an eye on it and phone nurse on wednesday if not better. Thanks again.

Re: HELP!!! incisions....
Hi lis, with a BA each breast is a separate operation so whilst one is healing well, it is perfectly normal for the other one to take a while to catch up in some cases. I had at times pains in one incision and not the other, so I would try not to worry. As long as the nurse has checked it for you, and is satisfied you should be fine xxx

Re: HELP!!! incisions....
.x. it is two separate ops as already mentioned so they can heal at different rates and not uncommon for one to be still sore when the other isn't. I would keep an eye on it but unless it starts weeping or opening etc or you notice that the irritation turns to pain etc i wouldn't worry too much as your still so early on and so it may just be that it is healing slower than the other xxxxx

Re: HELP!!! incisions....
Thanks again everyone, have changed sports bra and cut a bit of material and put that just under the boob. Was in a right state this morning, realised how much I love them already Still going to keep a look out for the mondors cord thingy. I thought I knew everything to expect, but I keep learning.

Re: HELP!!! incisions....
I think for the majority of us we mostly have one incision that heals better than the other, for me, my right healed so much better than my left.... the left was raised and I had stitches coming through still 5 weeks post op, but all healed well.... I'll try and get a pic of my incision lines to show you girls here what you can look forward to 3 years post-op because after a year, they were barely visible and haven't changed since then....
Will try and do that sometime today if my daughter is free to be my photographer LOL...
