I booked my BA day today!!!!
I am excited and nervous at the same time, just hope they are going to be right!
Has anyone had surgery with Mr Paterson in Preston?
Booked in for January. I have two young boys (4 and 2) so little worried about how I am going to manage afterwards, he said we are having to go in under the muscle too.
Do you think I am going to need back up during the day when my husband is at work (one boy is at school)

Re: I booked my BA day today!!!!
Firstly on booking your BA!!
When's the date??
You may find you will need a little help especially if the little one needs lifting up, bum changes etc, if you can get some help in the first week then go for it x x

Re: I booked my BA day today!!!!
Hun!! Im sorry i havent heard of this surgeon if you put a seperate post up in our surgeon and clinic section someone should be along to help!
Your recovery time may be a little longer and its recommended you rest for a couple of weeks so maybe get someone to help you with the little ones for this time. Wont be long until you get them

Re: I booked my BA day today!!!!
Such a great feeling!!
If you can get some help...I think it would be wise as you have young children.
I managed my whole journey fine on my own, except for hair washing and drying (lifting arms above chest level ooouchy!!) I cooked etc. However, I live on my own, no responsibility for young children and the daily needs and demands, not to mention the mess!! (wow memories... I have three adult babies!! )
I believe you will heal better and quicker, and the whole family will benefit if you except some help with daily chores and children. I think, as women and Mum's we feel guilty if we dont do it ALL!! And try and throw an op. into daily life and carry on as normal as we feel gratefull for the opportunity in the first place!!
I say be good to you for a week or so and except some help and support. And ENJOY xxx

Woohooo congrats on booking! Let the excitement start!!
I have a 6 month old daughter and my surgeon has said that I should be fine picking her up etc but obviously not to raise her above my head. My partner is having a week off work to help me at first just in case its worse than Im thinking!! xxx

Re: I booked my BA day today!!!!
Congrats on booking!
I would make sure you have some help if you need it- my daughter is 18 months and although I would be fine "looking after" her I don't think I could spend all day playing with her, rolling about the floor and being a fun mummy! She'll be at nursery in the day so I will have to give her brekkie and walk her up there (about 5 mins) but not actually doing the responsible bit!
The recovery time for unders is a bit longer than that of overs on average so you might be in a bit of discomfort for the first week or so xx

huge congrats hun, def advise some help first week, even without children, especially as your having unders
I had no bruising at all but it was difficult to get up out bed/off chair etc, def no lifting, couldn't even make my bed!
even dressing/washing yourself you have to be careful..
see if you can get some help first few days at least.. any chance your oh can take few days off to help out? so exciting for you now!! xx

As the other girls have said, get a bit of help while you are recovering.

Re: I booked my BA day today!!!!
Thank you girls. It feels so nice to be able to talk to other women that understand!!! It is going to help so much.
Most of my friends just think im a little mad (they all have breasts!)
I think I will have to call in a big favour from my little sister, ask her to come and stay, she is brilliant with the boys.
thankyou for making me feel welcome xx

Re: I booked my BA day today!!!!
Hiya, I would say yes you'll need help. I had unders and was totally knackered to 2 weeks. Luckily my OH took 2 weeks off to look after the kids for me. I have a 4 year old and at the time a 6 month old baby. It was only in the 2nd week that I could pick the baby up. I also spent alot of time in bed sleeping. On the other hand I did have an uplift aswell so not sure if my recovery was longer because of that, but I don't think so.
Congratulations on booking though, great new boobies hear you come
