Re: How much could you do and how soon?
I am planning on a couple of duvet days but I want to try and be up and about as much as I possibly can because a week is a long time to sit and do nothing at all. I am back to work on day 10. I have an 18 month old who will be in nursery all week because I couldn't imagine having to look after her at the same time as recovering!
I am having overs though so my recovery will be quicker than if I have unders.

Re: How much could you do and how soon?
I could do everything for myself except dry my hair properly. No pain, just a strange feeling getting used to having 'aliens' on your chest and walking funny untill posture adjusts
It is strange trying to raise yourself up from lying down ( I used a walking stick) and had a good few laughing fits at myself...soo glad no one was around!! as you are putting pressure on the chest muscles. It is soo much easier than what everyone imagines. However, dont think I could have lifted children. xx

Re: How much could you do and how soon?
I agree with mia, I wasn't bed bound, but tired a lot and took lots of naps. Couldn't drive for a week cause reverse gear was too hard when I tried driving my mums car. I have an automatic car so it was ok after a week but the seatbelt rubbed my new boobs in the cleavage. Really annoying for about 3 weeks. Going over speed bumps wasn't the greatest. I managed to wash my own hair over the bath after 3 days, but didn't do a good job, just kept throwing a jug of water over my head bent over the bath lol. Couldn't lift much. But was able to make myself meals (microwave) and sarnie's. Couldn't lift a full kettle, but if it had enough water for 1 cup full I could lift it. Great excuse for just making one for yourself. I could dress myself as long as nothing had to go over my head. Although I could manage over the head tops after 5 days

They also recommend after any operation that you get up and walk about. Mustn't lie down and do nothing. Little walks and just walking round the house is enough. It helps recovery and swelling to move about.
Re: How much could you do and how soon?
I stayed on the couch for a few days. I couldn't cook for myself, or make cups of tea for a few days. It took about 2 weeks to fully recover. I started driving about 10 days after op, i didn't do any housework for 2 weeks. Everyone is different though and it depends if you have unders or overs.
