Did you tell your mum?
I suppose I sort of have to- we live within 5 mins of each other and she knows how big my boobs are so I wont be able to hide a couple of 410cc additions!
How did you tell her? I know she'll be worried I'm doing it for my OH rather than me, that we can't really afford it, that I'm being vain.... I don't want to fall out with her about it- it's booked and pretty much paid for so her views and opinions wont change the outcome but they will change how I feel about it if you know what I mean.
I'm thinking about telling her sooner rather than later- I hate lying to her and she'd be more angry if I tell her in a couple of months that I've hidden it.
I still hate my mum being disappointed in me!

Re: Did you tell your mum?
It's definately best if you tell her soon I think - she'll be more upset/angry if you just go ahead without letting her know what's going on.
On the other hand, some might say that it's no-one's business but yours which is true. So if you really dont want to tell her, there's no need to.
My mum seemed rather indifferent, but we're not at all close. She didnt say anything at all to try talk me out of it so I had no problems there. My dad was a different story though, him and his partner keep calling me stupid and trying to make me feel bad by using ridiculous arguments that just make it obvious they dont know what they're talking about. I dont care though, their prejudices about it and disregard for my feelings just make me all the more determined to do it. Especially when my dad always commented on women's breasts in front of me when I was young, what right does he have to tell me I'm stupid for wanting to feel better about myself??
Sorry, went off on a bit of a tangent there... haha.
Good luck with telling your mum though huni - I hope she's understanding and supportive for you
xx

Re: Did you tell your mum?
I know exactly how you feel!! I didnt tell my mum to start with, not untill i'd found who i wanted to go with. And naturally she thought i was doing to for my OH lol, that i would look like Jordan, that im stupid blah blah blah. Then i showed her the rice boobies and she came round to the idea. I also showed her how flat chested i was!! Which was a shock to her as she probably hadnt seen my boobs since i was 13!! lol. Now she is fine about it, I took her along to an appointment with my PS and everything is good!! She and my Step Dad are laughing about it now and they realise it is gunna happen x Tell your Mun sooner rather than later. She will be fine about it im sure x x

Re: Did you tell your mum?
hi
i told my mum when i had booked my consultations, she was all for it as she really wants a face lift but i havent told my dad he is very old fashioned, he doesnt want my mum to have a facelift, so would definatly hit the roof if i told him i was having surgery for bigger boobies! lol
ive booked a date in december 23rd, usually got to my parents for xmas, think this yr i might have to give it a miss! haha
going to let my mum break the news to him when ive had them done as i cant be doing with the ear ache he will give me! haha!
hopefully he will see the result and think differently! ;O) xx

Re: Did you tell your mum?
I havent told my Mum yet. She lives 4 hours away from me and we dont see her that often and are not especially close. I got my lack of boobies from her! and this might be the reason I dont want to tell her as it might make her somehow feel uncomfortable!
She has just invited us for Christmas - by then I will be 8 weeks post op. She is bound to notice so Im still weighing up whether or not to tell her - and when etc!

Re: Did you tell your mum?
I only really told my mum because she had to look after my son. Otherwise I wouldn't have done as I doubt she'd even have noticed!

Re: Did you tell your mum?
I told my mum and she lives abroad. She had made comments about my bust before when i visited her, asking where my boobies had gone! I had lost all of my baby weight (and a bit more) and was so tiny, my boobs disappeared! So when i told her that i was having a BA, she was so supportive and agreed that i should have it done to increase my bust and feel womanly again!
You'll be surprised how supportive mums can be. Tell her if you think you'll get the support that you need. xxx

I told my mum when I'd booked my consultations. She didn't want me to get them done and tried to talk me out of it but was supportive when she realised I wouldn't change my mind.
She was worse when I got my laser eye surgery!
I haven't told my dad and he hasn't noticed!

Re: Did you tell your mum?
I had a little speech prepared - I was armed with LOADS of info, pro's and cons's (censored cons might I add), everything I could to show her how serious I was and how I had researched absolutely everything I could about it. When I eventually came out with it, she just said, "I know you've wanted this for so long, and I can see you've done your reseach" That was it!!! Didn't even need my speech! So I reckon knowing your stuff should help, shows your serious and not making any rash decisions, and also alot of people have some misconceptions about surgery so you can then put their minds at ease too.

I told my mum but only because I need her to help with the kids after the op, otherwise I probably wouldn't have told her and I very much doubt she would have brought it up.

Re: Did you tell your mum?
I think, from alot of ladies experiences, not alot of people actually seem to notice once they are under clothes anyway.

Re: Did you tell your mum?
I didnt tell my mum and shes never noticed but then shes a different type of mum than most peoples. In saying that I told my my mum-in-law and she even came with me to one of my consults and has been really supportive. If your super close to her I'd tell her.

Re: Did you tell your mum?
Update - I told my mum this morning ! We were chatting on Skype and I decided now was the time. Much easier than phoning her too! She seemed ok but then a bit later asked was I sure I had put enough thought into it - you hear of so many horror stories. That was it though!! Result :-)

Re: Did you tell your mum?
My mum came with me to my consultation. Although she doesn't feel I need one she still was really supportive and when I was trying the different implants she actually said that if I was paying all that money then I should at least have them big enough for people to notice xx

Re: Did you tell your mum?
My mum doesn't know and probably never will, she's much like the gran in the Catherine Tate shows, she'll be nice and supportive to my face then get on the phone to her mate Mandy and say "you're not gonna believe what that idiot daughter of mine has gone and done!" and before i know it the whole of Wales and Essex know!!
I so can not tell her! x

Re: Did you tell your mum?
It's a bit wierd for me because it was my Mum who first took me to see the doc!
I know my situation is slightly different but my Mum has been there for me the whole way along.
I can totally understand why some girls wouldn't want to tell their Mums and family but mine has been a star, she's always been there fighting my corner.

Re: Did you tell your mum?
I had to tell my Mum as she arranged to meet me on the morning i was going to my consultation. Prob best really as she came with me although id often mentioned having a b.a her coming with me made her understand alot more as to why I wanted it.
After that she supported me all the way xx

Re: Did you tell your mum?
I never told my mom. She just wouldn't understand and to be honest i decided it was my business and not hers'. She hasn't noticed at all, but then i think the idea of me having a boob job is the furthest thought from her mind.

Re: Did you tell your mum?
i was always really open with everyone in my family about having a boob job!! however, only think it was my mum who ever took me seriously and properly understood. she has been amazingly supportive and, though we have always been close, this has bought us even closer as she has been to every appointment, at the op, and every follow up - as well as funding it as my graduation gift (which i know was a massive financial struggle for her, and was just the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me).
i think the whole experience was made a lot better by my mummy!!
however, i completely understand if you more cautious, as my dads side of the family (my parents are divorced) are a lot more straight-laced and clearly all very dissaproving! my dad was really unsupportive and the whole thing really created a rift in our relationship which has yet to fully heal.
if you think your mum can support you in anyway, tell her, someone being there to look after you is so important. however, if you think the reaction may not be positive, sometimes it may be best to keep it as your own private decision, as my dads unsupportive attitude caused me a lot of tears and doubts!!
