When can I get 'busy' again?
Just thinking when is ok for me to do normal jobs around the house again? I have hubby at home at the moment as he's between jobs so he's literally been doing everything, but I'm getting very bored with doing nothing!! When is it ok to do things like lift the kettle to make a cuppa and maybe do some ironing?
I have come on leaps and bounds in just 8 days and need to get back to normal duties for my own sanity!!!

Re: When can I get 'busy' again?
I guess its all down to how you feel BUT I asked this very question of my surgeon who will be doing my BA end of October - mainly because I only have 7 days off work, and he said he would encourage me to do things gently as early as possible (I was asking about blowdrying my hair to be specific!).
On day 10 post op I have a gig - I play saxophone and percussion in a band - both of which will present probems im sure in the early stages of recovery. My sax is suspended on a strap around my neck and it will press on my new boobies! My congas require me to hit drums hard with my hands! Got a feeling I am going to have to get someone else to stand in for me !!

To be honest, Michas, having just passed the 4 week mark, I think you will have to get someone else to stand in for you at the gig. I could probably play the sax and congas now, but only just! I still find I have to be careful and feel a bit of a twinge now and then.
Sounds great playing in a band, though, something to look forward to again after your BA!

p.s. Just been to a film and found reversing the car made the scar on my right boob hurt. Had to go right round the car park rather than reverse.

HI gem
household I could manage just about earlier this last week so coming up to two weeks post op, but you still have to be careful, keep em strapped down int he sb and don't reach/pull/push with strength or you def feel it.. driving like sasha take it careful even at two weeks po.. now this weekedn 2.5 weeks po beginning to get pretty much back to normal, can move chairs, run up the stairs, lift from top cupboards, hoover without twinges, but I still can't lift the mattress to tuck the bottom sheet in!! hope that helps! xx

Re: When can I get 'busy' again?
.x. I think the best rule to follow is to judge by how your feeling.... try lifting the kettle, try loading the washing machine etc and continue if it feels fine, STOP if it doesn't xxxxxxxxxxxx Your over a week Post op now so you should be feeling a little better and don't need to be as worried about being overly careful. Just don't push yourself.
P.s. I just have to add that when I saw the title of this thread I thought you were enquiring about getting "busy" again in a totally different way lol. oh dear. just my dirty mind! It was the way you wrote it inside the little ' ' marks xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Re: When can I get 'busy' again?
i had quite a lot of help for the first 2 weeks. I didn't get my son back until a week and a half after my first op then although I felt ok doing stuff I still got my mum to come over and do my washing and stuff as I couldn't push and pull the stuff out of the washing machine.

Re: When can I get 'busy' again?
LOL makes me sound very boring doesn't it!!! Believe me that's the last thing on my mind at the moment, can't lean over without having the feeling of my implants falling out and then OUCH, OUCH OUCH!!! . I have been doing a little more round the house today though and you guys are right in the fact that my body is telling me when I'm doing too much. You never know I may have a good night's sleep tonight now!! xxx
