I'm starting to panic now....does anyone know how likely it is that you can't breastfeed after having peri-areolar?

I didn't really research this much as I decided I wanted it in the crease...then on the day the surgeon suggested the areolar so I took his advice.

Healing-wise it was great, I think possibly more comfortable as I was wearing underwired bras from time to time after 6 weeks.

But now I'm really worried....I really wanted to breastfeed...does anyone have any links etc?

damage milk glands and ducts, which make and carry milk in the breast.
Some ways have a much higher risk for causing breastfeeding problems
than others. The most important factor is the type of incision
(surgical cut) made in your breast to place the implant. An incision
made around or across your areola (dark circle around the nipple) can
damage the nerves. This can lead to you having a decrease or loss of
feeling in your areola and nipple. Incisions may be done under the
breast, or in the armpit or belly button to prevent damage to milk
ducts and glands or nerves.

One of the greatest factors in determining your success at breastfeeding with implants is the type of surgery you have.

  • Areola incision: One of the most common augmentation
surgeries is a cut around the areola. While this is often the simplest
procedure, it can make breastfeeding more difficult if nerve damage
    occurs.
  • Breast fold incision: Women who have this type of surgery generally have success at breastfeeding.
  • Armpit incision: There typically isn’t any problems breastfeeding after this type of surgery either.

And also:

The majority of women with breast implants who want to breastfeed are able to do so.

I think you should be ok, if you still have feeling in the nipple then there should be no problems breast feeding. But that last site said you have to tell your midwife etc as the milk flow may be reduced.

I'm sure you'll be fine lovely

[sorry for the double post]
Ahhh
ok, well I'm sure I won't be finding out for a while yet anyway, only
been with my boyfriend 3 months anyway haha. I just feel a bit silly
now not doing more research [thought I'd done plenty, but then I was
preparing for the crease incision]
Oh well...not much I can do but hope!
