How did you pay for op? Empty How did you pay for op?

Post by sars3dd 1st September 2009, 2:36 pm

Hi ladies
I am now really stressing out that my GP wont give me the letter i need to attend the hospital that does private and NHS work tomorrow and if thats the case i will either have to live with staying at the NHS hospital thats already approved me or go private.

The problem is i am not working as am bringing up my 3 girls while hubby works. money is really really tight for us at the moment so no idea where i'd find £3000 from.

aw do you really not think the NHS will approve? if not you may be able to save a small amount say £500 and put the rest on finance through a company i know transform offer it although hubby may need to sign for it etc with him working, im sure you will sort something hunny.

I saved, I just didn't spend any money on anything that wasn't for the family. So no new clothes etc until I had enough money. Was worse for me though as I had to find £5800 :pale:

How long did it tke you to find that much Sarahsbabies? I am worried its going to take me years.

I am lucky that my GP is lovely and really supportive but the hospital takes NHS patients to cut down nhs waiting times but do charge the NHS a bit extra for it, so all comes down to wether or not she thinks i can wait the 18-24months for one implant or if it would be better for me getting the op now. I have the support of my psychologist to but it ll comes down to money for them the end of the day.
Thinking of a credit card to pay for it. xx

Well I have been saving for a couple of years, not necessarily for boobs though, but after the birth of my 2nd, it was obvious to me that I needed them doing and luckily I just about had enough money by the time my op came round. I was actually surprised at how much I had saved as I had a bit in one account and a bit in another and so on.

I took the money from my savings account. I hadn't been particularly saving for boobs, just building up a reserve fund over a number of years. The recession made me really nervous about taking a chunk of that money, but now I'm so glad I did.

Yes SB, between all the new bras (and matching knickers of course), botox, fillers and hair colour changes I've had since the BA I must have dipped in for another grand! Hysterical

But seriously sars3dd, I hope your GP and team give you the support you need because I'm sure you'll benefit enormously from the procedure. A bank loan might be the way to go if you need finance - interest rates are fairly low at the moment (one of the few advantages of the recession I guess!)

I got a 0% credit card and stuck the balance on there. Have been paying it off every month. When the 0% runs out it goes up to soemthing like 12% so will be getting a balance transfer sorted on another 0% card.

If we can't do that I'll just pay it off with savings.

I did the same as Roxy 0% credit card, well boyfriends credit card, which I pay the bill for each month. Cheaper than finance interest and I can't save a thing so this is the next best thing, to saving as I will never pay interest moving the balance around.
