Timescales?
Hi ladies.
So I'm right at the very beginning of my journey.
I've wanted a BA ever since I hit puberty and wasn't blessed with any boobs! My mum is busty and I assumed I would be, too, so I've always felt short changed and out of proportion.
I started seriously researching last week - I've not long had my second (and last) child and feel it's the ideal time now to get my boobs done, while I'm off work anyway. I did look at the fat transfer type as I'm worried about my body rejecting the implants (does this actually happen?) but the cup size increase wouldn't be sufficient and my body would probably just reabsorb the fat!
My question is, how long does it take to get a surgery appointment, generally speaking? Ideally I'd love them done in September to be all healed for Christmas and in time to start doing a day a week at work from mid October. I'm not sure if this is far too ambitious! I've booked a slot to chat with the surgeon at my local private hospital (Nuffield) next Satutday, as they're holding a cosmetic surgery open day. I've done a search on the surgeon on this site and it doesn't seem that anyone has used him, which I'm also a bit apprehensive about.
Sorry for waffling, I'm just excited and feeling out of my depth at the same time!

Re: Timescales?
Which Surgeon are you going to see? Depending on the surgeon you may be able to get booked in for a BA in Sept as long as you feel you have done sufficient amount of research and happy with your decisions.
Everyone heals differently and you will just have to listen to your body to see how you are feeling in October, but depending on your job I would say a day a week would be okay :)

Re: Timescales?
Hey there, welcome to the forum, and the start of your journey.
I would just say go along and see this surgeon, and see what he suggests, size wise and see what dates he has avail etc.
Don't part with any money though if you are wanting to try and find some reviews first. Ask to see his work while your there too. But generally on this forum your advised to get 3 consults, as every surgeon works so differently. See which one you get the best rapport with. On saying this though, I personally didn't do this, as I found the surgeon through a friend and booked him instantly! Then found this forum after lol!
Spire have a good reputation on here though. So I would just say go along, have a chat, and it will definitely give you lots to think about.
Good luck.

Re: Timescales?
It's very rare for your body to reject an implant. In the UK, they are mostly silicone, which is an inert product, ie it has no reaction. There is silicon in so much of your everyday products without you knowing.
Timewise, it can depend on the clinic and surgeon. Some more commercial places can get you under the knife within weeks, but they are more about filling beds. Some of the more highly ranked private surgeons, you might be waiting months because they're so popular.
Best advise right now is get some consults under your belt so you know what you're looking for, and what will be best for your body.

Re: Timescales?
Thanks for the replies.
The surgeon is called Robert Warr; he has his own website which shows 5 or 6 examples of BAs he's performed (before and after) but I can only find one review from Googling, from someone who was happy with him and the surgery but then wished she'd gone bigger.
One of my friends had a BA two years ago but doesn't recommend her surgeon, and my niece had hers done through MYA around the same time and highly recommends them.
I'll see about booking consultations with some other surgeon then if three is recommended :) thank you.

Re: Timescales?
It's great to find reviews but a personal connection is so important too. After surgery you feel so anxious about all the choices made and the changes so if you didn't feel totally comfortable and trusting of your surgeon it would be even harder! Do your research and arrange at least consultations with surgeons and then go with your gut! How old is your youngest child? I think they usually like you to be at least 6 month post last birth!

Re: Timescales?
Thank you.
I've booked an initial chat with MYA for tomorrow evening, will see if I like the sound of any of their surgeons.
My baby is almost 5 months so will be 6 months at least by the time any surgery happens. I told the person on the phone at MYA that she's 4 months (as she is til next week!) and nothing was said :)

Re: Timescales?
I am booked in with a spire in Essex, the PA is the only one I've seen and although I cannot find any BA reviews I have done a lot of research on him. I have seen him 3 times in total, the first being for a tummy tuck that I have decided at this point in my life not to get. Anyway from meeting him I am confident he is the surgeon for me. I agree that you should shop around, and had I not taken to my PS immediately I would have asked to see another surgeon. Best of luck x

Re: Timescales?
Thanks for that.
I saw a PCC from MYA on Wednesday. I wasn't impressed with the prices I was quoted - it's cheaper for me to go to my local private hospital! I've also not had the email I was promised, nor any follow up calls. They were confident they could get me a surgery date in September like I'm hoping for, though.
I'm seeing a surgeon for a chat (not a consultation) next Saturday, which I'm looking forward to.
Only two weeks to go until your surgery, how exciting!

Re: Timescales?
That doesn't sound good of MYA! Some of the ladies on here went with them and have glowing reviews. I personally didnt want to pick a large cosmetic company like MYA or Transform and sought out the best surgeons instead. I made a list of names I kept coming across and researched them all loads, and ended up picking an amazing female surgeon who happened to work in Birmingham privately.
Everyone has their preferences, but the main thing to do is RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH :) xxx

Re: Timescales?
My niece used MYA and was very quick to recommend them - she's thrilled with her BA.
I can't find anyone on this forum who has used the surgeon MYA have recommended for me, but I've booked a consultation with her to see if I like her.
My local private hospital has a couple of surgeons who have received great reviews on this forum (although one is so popular that I can't even get a consultation with him until October! I've gone on a waiting list for any cancellations) so I'll hopefully see at least one of them as well.
My husband said yesterday "buying boobs is hard work" - I think I'm boring him talking about them all the time!

Re: Timescales?
Rob Warr is very good! I have worked with him in his NHS plastics work and he is excellent . I only didn't use him as I didn't want to blur the work boundaries ( which I'm sure he would have been fine with btw it was just my choice to use a surgeon out of area which I was unlikely to work with)
Good luck I think you have made a great choice .

Re: Timescales?
Are you on the waiting list at the winnie? Not sure who you are wanting to see there but Guy Sterne is very good too.
I saw Rob Warr do a huge and i mean huge breast reduction, the work and shape was beautiful and the scarring was absolutely minimal considering the amount of breast tissue removed. Long surgery but fantastic result for that lady.
PS Hello from down the road in the deepest darkest forest of dean . Good luck, enjoy your consultations its the best bit of it all and feel free to PM me if you want any local surgeon info, i have trawled the wards for years in various specialities and have seen a lot of them in action so to speak !!!

Re: Timescales?
Thanks Bkoz!
I've only enquired with the Winfield so far - they sent me their info with the surgeons listed and Guy has indeed received some great feedback on this forum. I think I'll try and get a consultation with him next, if he's not too busy.
Really good to hear about Rob's work and the scarring - I scar quite badly (I'm very pale, which I think doesn't help!) so he sounds like he's honed his craft :)
