Niipppllleees!!
Hey all,
So I'm just over a week post op and my nipples are soooo SENSITIVE! Is this normal?
I have kept the feeling in my left nipple throughout but my right one was numb. It's still not 100% normal but it's definitely coming back.
However,when anything touches them...whhooaaaa....nipples!!!
They feel like they are on fire.
Hopefully this will improve? Xx

Yup, all normal. They'll flux for a while, some days they'll be fine, others the slightest brush and Omg. Cotton wool pads or breast pads can help while you're in the bra. Keep the moisturised too, so they don't become chapped and worse. But it will get better, promise.

Going to try and change my dressing myself this morning which I am supposed to do every time I shower but not had guts to have one yet. Xx

Cotton pads like Charli has recommended are good to cushion nipples while they are sensitive. Some surgeons also recommend massaging them to de-sensitise them.

Re: Niipppllleees!!
Mine are the opposite Hun, still numb, I can feel pressure and all the stinging sensations etc but from my nipples down to my incisions is like touching someone else's boobs (very strange lol). Both are common after BA, just luck of the draw o think. But I do I think being sensitive is a good thing, means you still have nipple sensation and I'm sure it will calm down, cotton pads sound like a good idea from the other girls. I've never had sensitive nipples so I'm not too worried if the sensation in them doesn't come back - I'd rather have my new boobies :-) At one point my nipples started to peel (very early on) so I was glad they were numb lol, my advise - lots and lots of moisturiser to prevent that lol xxx

Thank you all...I'm glad it's normal.
They keep going erect all randomly too...so embarrasing! So the cotton wool will definitely help that too.
I used to have a little rhyme, what god has forgotten you fill up with cotton...seems I can't quite ditch it yet after all!! Xx

I'm 3 weeks post op and my nipples are extra sensitive, nipples and all the rest too...I hope it gets better...I can hardly touch them at the moment. Sometimes it feels like they're on fire.
I find that warm baths help a lot.

I can't have a bath that deep yet. Having my wounds checked tomorrow so will see what he says. I really don't like baths but if it helps I'm willing to try!
I guess it's all the nerves healing so am sure it's a good thing but yikes it's too much!! xx
