Fake tan
I don't know if I've missed something massively obvious with this, but is there any particular reason why you're not supposed to fake tan pre op?x

Re: Fake tan
Hi I think the reason is because they need to check your skin colour to make sure your oxygen levels are on. The same reason as you're not allowed to wear makeup and nail polish in theatre x

Re: Fake tan
Makes more sense than the "to avoid infection" reason i'd previously been told. Thanks hun x

Re: Fake tan
It's to advoid infection also . They only need to see fingers nails and lips for lack of oxygen. You are wired up to a oxygen saturation clip that goes on your finger. Xx

Re: Fake tan
Its both. They need to make sure you skin around the incision is a nice healthy pink colour, and that no nasties get in.

Re: Fake tan
It's both, make up and tan will mask a drop in oxygen levels (they need to see your true skin colour) and increase your risk of introducing an infection. Hence why a lot of surgeons want you to wash in hibiscrub for 5 days before....you need to be as 'clean' as possible.

Re: Fake tan
I'm having a massive blonde moment! Does that mean it's possible to use it up until a few days before & then stop? I know it's a really small thing to be asking about but i don't want to use it when i shouldn't be but at the same time keep using it if i can - massive paley!!X

Re: Fake tan
It needs to be all scrubbed off before the op.
If it's like fake bake and lasts a week, I would stop 2-3 weeks before and scrub scrub scrub! Better to be safe than sorry! x
