i don't know if I was just naive, but seriously didn't think I would still be in pain and so restricted in what I can do after four weeks PO. I know every one is different but I'm still off work and getting more depressed by the day.

Sorry your still feeling under the weather :-( could your recovery be longer this time because it's your 2nd one? I don't know how that would affect it?
Just little steps with resuming everyday activities.  X

Healing takes a while. You've had a major operation. Things will be healing on the inside for about a year, nerves regrow for two. If you're still in a lot of pain now though, it could be your body telling you to slow it down. Maybe make a clinic app to discuss it if it's not better in another 2 weeks

Arrrr hun sorry to hear your having a really bad time with recovery, have you seen the nurse or spoke to the hospital and told them how your feeling? Having unders does take a little bit more time to recover from. Big hugs x

The nurse asked how I was feeling and I burst into tears. Nurse just dressed my holes in my incisions. She didn't say much really. My GP was more helpful

By all accounts, unders take a bit more toll on your body.  I've never had overs so can't compare, but with unders I had one side giving me gip right through to 4 weeks.  Like you, I wasn't really expecting that...well I was, but I wasn't expecting that period to feel like a lifetime!  Time seems to go by so slowly when you're not really doing much!  Once the boob pain subsided, I then got the niggly pain in the sternum...it honestly felt like one thing after another, but you're 4 weeks through it now so the light at the end of the tunnel is SO close!  x

Hopefully you'll start to turn a corner healing wise soon, in the meantime focus on what you can do & try not to get too down on what you can't do.
It does get better I promise! Hug XXX

Sorry to hear you're feeling like this hun. Really hope your healing speeds up and you start feeling wonderful again soon!

So true how everyone is different, I had unders and I'm also a type 1 diabetic. The first week was hell on earth, 2nd week was much better and now I'm nearing 4 weeks I'm pretty much back to normal but with the odd twinge/pain/pulling feeling.

Get some rest and eat well and drink plenty my dear.

Chin up, won't be long hun x x x

I'm a week post op today. Keep crying ! Still in quite abit of pain and can't do anything . I do wonder when I'll be able to get back to my horses , I have stables to sort but have them covered for next week also
I'm thinking I'll need at least a month with how slowly I'm recovering so far

Oh absolutely at least a month to 6wk. I probably wouldn't go near them until you've got the exercise all clear. I would just be worried if you grabbed a reign and it reared, pulling you with it.

Sorry to hear you're still feeling rubbish. But try not to worry about it, everyone heals differently, and it sounds like your fella is doing the best he can. Just try and get as much rest and sleep as possible

They are not walked on head collars or anything as are as natural as possible it's just the mucking out and wheel barrow full of horse poop to sort . Just walked all the dogs round the fields so didn't have to use my arms at all but when I walk it's like my ribs are broken or something- like I can't breathe in enough because my chest has a belt round it as tight it can be ! Crazy . Is that normal ?

That rib pain is normal.  I tried a short walk at 2 weeks and it was agony! Then by 3 weeks was less painful and 4 weeks pain free! You'll get there soon.

That might be your body making more fluid swelling to protect the bits that need to heal?
