Massage
I have been told by the nurse to massage. If my boobs are sitting well in pockets do I need to do this. Does massage make them go softer ???

Re: Massage
How far along post-op are you Langers?
Your nurse seems to be giving you advise that really should be coming from your surgeon.
Here in the UK we use Textured or Polyeurothane implants which SHOULD NOT be massaged.
On rare occasions a patient may have a stubborn boob that won't drop and 'after seeing their surgeon' about this the surgeon may advise massage to help the implant drop. But this very rare.
Your last post you explained your nurse said you no longer need to wear your strap because your implants had dropped nicely - to suggest massage could really compromise your healing when from your previous information it's clear you don't need it.
I'd personally be on the phone to Transform not only insisting you see your surgeon (if he hasn't already left yet) if he has left then insist on seeing another surgeon and I'd be putting in a complaint about a nurse who is giving advise only your surgeon should be giving. X

Re: Massage
I'm only 11 days. I think the nurse is giving out to much advice. I'm going to ring transform Monday. She did say the strap can come off and they have settled in the pockets. They do feel fairly soft to xx

Re: Massage
Massage is used if there's caused for concern Langers. If there's no cause for concern as you say there isn't then NO massage should EVER be advised. Especially by a nurse.
If she has cause for concern, which she shouldn't if you're healing so well, but if she did its not her job to advise on massage - it's your surgeons and ONLY your surgeons.
Be sure to put in a complaint as well Langers. If this nurse is advising you in this way she could well be sabotaging the healing of many women.
This is no small thing babe. Textured/polys ,adhere to the Breast pocket. Massage would interfere with this and could result in needing a re-op to exchange the implants.

Re: Massage
Perhaps the nurse was meaning to massage moisturiser into skin, like you would anywhere else on your body ( avoiding inscisions) not the more forceful massage where implants are being stubborn & not dropping.Gently massaging moisturiser can keep the skin more supple & in the case of overly sensitive skin can help to de sensitise the area.
Like others have Do check with surgeon before doing anything that may compromise healing as they are the experts and not the nurse . XXX

Re: Massage
Thanks for that Mirren001. I think you are right. The nurse did seem to think she was the surgeon with the advice she gave!!!!

Re: Massage
I personally wouldn't massage unless told to do so by the surgeon, especially this early. Bit naughty of the nurse, she clearly doesn't k ow what she's on about! Hoping she did mean moisturise, rather than massage! I asked my surgeon about message at my 1 week appt....he looked horrified!!

Re: Massage
I should add that I was told this by my surgeon at bmi. It was to soften my implants. Although it didn't feel comfortable so I only did it for a few days. Xx
