Post by Emmybird2 27th January 2015, 11:07 pm

I Hi all sorry's for this has been asked before can't see anything on it but ive been reading on a lot of sites they seem to mainly America about massaging your breasts after your op to make room for the implant so the body dosent heal to tightly around it im having an uplift aswell as an implant and was wondering if this was something I should do and if it is how soon after the op should I start ?

Thanks for any response Emma xx

Implant massage Empty Re: Implant massage

Post by COOKIE 27th January 2015, 11:27 pm

In the US they mostly use 'smooth implants' these DO require massage.

Here in the UK we use textured, or Polyeurothane implants and because these actually adhere to the Breast pocket these DO-NOT require massage. Massage of these implants will hinder healing as itll prevent the implant from being able to adhere.

If a Breast is being stubborn dropping after around 2-3 months and you seek advise from your surgeon, a surgeon then 'after examining you and ensuring the implant has adhered' advise massage to force the Breast downwards, but other than that it's absolutely not advised at all to massage textured/polys which is what we use here in. The UK Emma. Xx
