Okay ? Not okay ?
hello ladies,
I've not taken any of the ibuprofen or co-codamol that they gave me from hospital as I've had no pain, the last time I took them was yesterday lunch time at hospital so it's been 36 hours and I can honestly say I have no pain,
Do you think that I should take them am I likely to get pain in the next few days as the swelling builds ? I had my op on Wednesday morning so I'm 2 days post op
Xx

Maybe the GA is still in your system. I would take them for the first week anyway. But that's me. Rather than let any pain suddenly come on xx

Re: Okay ? Not okay ?
Ok thanks anne, was there a certain day when the aching was at its worst ? I'm not sure if its because I've had overs but I just feel a mild ache if I try to over stretch, but when I was on the pain killers I found myself trying to reach for things and nothing seeming To hurt, hence why I've not taken the pain killers so I know what is too much and what isn't... Hope that makes sense

Don't take them Hun, only take them if you're In pain they start to work in around 20 minutes anyways so best of not taking anything unless you need it x
I can't take any strong painkillers so was on just paracetamol and did ok x

Really try and stay of the co codamlol if you really don't need it, don't take that for the sake of it, also as it's the stronger codeine painkiller that can actually make you feel worse (dizzy/sick) x

Yes it makes sence. I can only really go on how I felt. I found day 3 too 7 bad and my swelling really kicked in then. The thing that didn't help with me is that I also had an irritation to the tape the taped all round my boobs. I never really got pain as such, just uncomfortable and a really tight chest. My pain killers were more helpful for my back as that ached. It sounds like you are doing really well. They do say rather than let the pain get bad before taking them , take them regular but everybody is different. Xxx

Why take pain killers if you don't need them?
I'd personally only ever take painkillers as when needed. They can cause constipation, make you feel ill or drowsy. Why put yourself through that taking pain killers if you've no pain at all?
It's fab you're having a really good recovery hun. Enjoy it and just keep the painkillers just incase you have a bad day, but if not....there's absolutely no need to take them sweetheart. Xx

Re: Okay ? Not okay ?
With the girls on this, no need to take them unnecessarily. If you do start feeling too sore, pop some paracetamol. Try and stay off the hard stuff if you can.

Hi Hun,
I also had no pain, but bit of tightness, took them anyway for first 2 days then stopped completely and went onto paracetamol, then realised i didn't need that either so had nothing since.
If you don't feel pain, no point in taking anything as the girls have said x
