Using bio oil
Evening Ladies
Any idea how long I should be applying bio oil? Does there come a point where it's done all it's guna do?
I've been using it for about 2.5 months, I'm 5 months post-op and I'm sure it's made a difference so far

Re: Using bio oil
I think for as long as you feel it's working, to be totally honest I used nothing on my scars and they've faded to a very think barely there line.
Keep applying as long as you feel it works Hun though by around 2years it'll fade to what it'll fade to. X

Re: Using bio oil
You don't need to specifically use bio oil at all to be honest, any moisturiser is fine. You should moisturise as long as you want, forever if you want to keep them nice and supple, just like you would anywhere else. Mrs B is right with the scars though.

Re: Using bio oil
I'm with Mrsball also on the scars. After my first Breast Augmentation I used nothing and I had neat little scars that were barely visible.
Continue if you think it's doings some good for your scars until you feel the improvement has stopped, but otherwise, I'd leave them be babe. Xx

Re: Using bio oil
The PC at my consultation has told me to use bio oil I used it when pregnant so hoping I have some left if I don't though can I just use my normal
Moisturiser or cocoa butter lotion? Only asking because bio oil is a bit pricey! And if I'm gonna be using it on scars and for massaging then im bound to go through bottles of the stuff.

Re: Using bio oil
Yes, any moisturiser you have laying around the house will be just as good.
The things thats helping your scar to flatten out the lumps isn't the oil or the moisturiser you're using, this is just a tool to make the action of using circular motions with the tips of your fingers along the scar easier.
So I wouldn't worry about it Laura. As many of us have said anyway, we never bothered touching ours and ours healed perfectly regardless. Xx

Just found an old thread of mine showing my scars if you can find them lol [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Re: Using bio oil
I agree, I used baby oil after a couple of weeks. A lot cheeper and makes the massage circular movements even easier than with bio oil.COOKIE wrote:Yes, any moisturiser you have laying around the house will be just as good.

I used so many products, scar oil, silicone scar sheets and did my massage, but I had to do laser treatment on my scars in the end anyway.
I had foot surgery a while after my boob-job, and I didn't do anything to those scars and they look really really good now.
So next time, I won't do anything at all to my scars, I will just leave them a hope for the best

Isabell did the laser work? I'm a little concerned about my scars as they are still quite dark around the scar itself and the line is quite thick, but flat. I'm 7 months post op and got a follow up appt next month for surgeon to check them.

Re: Using bio oil
It'll lighten up and fade in with the rest of your skin tone over time mammamia. 7 months sounds like a long time but in healing terms it's not long at all given it takes up to a year or more for the scars to fully heal. Xx
Re: Using bio oil
7 months is still early. Around 9 months is the earliest to start laser treatment.Mammamia wrote:Isabell did the laser work? But they recommend 12 months.
If yours are still dark around 12 months and you don't have any more patient to wait you know that laser is always an option. So don't worry about the scars.
I have only had 1 laser treatment, I'm having my second treatment next week and it has already made a huge difference.
I'm recommended to have a total of 3 treatments.
I pay £100 for every treatment, but I have scars from a full anchor uplift.

Re: Using bio oil
Thanks cookie and Isabell, I hope you're right and I know I shouldn't worry yet! It's just hard to know what's 'normal'! I guess the only other thing that causes me concern is I had a lump removed from my shoulder resulting in a 2 inch incision and that was done only 3 months ago and the scar is amazing, so thin and I can hardly see it. Fingers crossed but it's great to know you've seen a result with laser. Thanks!

Where are you having this done Isabelle? I actually wouldn't mind having my areolas lasered. They're much better now than they were but if I could get an even better result them im definitely in for that! XxIsabellExpat wrote:7 months is still early. I think it's a lot of "effect" for quite a small sum of money.
I had tiny broken spider veins around my scars, most of them disappeared after the first treatment.

Re: Using bio oil
Thank you Isabelle. Really happy that's worked for you.
My scars look so much better since Mr Liew did them but I have some ever so slight puckering over righty. Hubby says it's not visible at all and it's just in my imagination, but like with any imperfection...as soon as you remove your clothes your eyes are instantly drawn to the part you're bothered about.
I dunno though if it would help with puckering. What did you think Isabelle? X

Re: Using bio oil
I have a 3 inch scar on my thigh from a mole excision 4 years ago, it took 2 years for it to truly go white and almost invisible. For the first year it was still red/purple, I never thought it would fade! It did eventually though, but it does feel like forever at the time xx

Re: Using bio oil
Hmm. I have no idea if it helps with puckering. But I have my next treatment next week so I will ask my laser surgeon and inform you. Since it's breaking down the scar tissue, I would guess it has some effect? But I will ask him so we know for sure.COOKIE wrote:Thank you Isabelle. Really happy that's worked for you.
