Finally in a happier place!
Hi girls, me again...
Hope all you PO are doing well, and all u pre op are getting everything sorted and feeling excited rather than nervous :)
Well, I just wanted to tell u all that at 23 days post op im finally feeling better about my boobs. They've settled down really nicely and are almost looking quite natural already.
They've definitely evened out a lot over the past few days, the one I thought looked pinched has calmed down a lot and doesn't feel as tight. They are more symmetrical now, which im pleased with, and bunny noticed that one of my scars has started to flatten out in the middle already too.
Its so difficult when you feel down to see the bright side and imagine how much better you will feel a week later.
I think, I don't know whether im speaking for others here too, that we prepare ourselves as best we can to be out of action, to be in pain, to not sleep well, to have to take time off the gym etc, but maybe we don't prepare ourselves for how our boobs will look after. Its difficult because we can never know how they will be.
I think more info should be given as standard about asymmetry, boobie blues, healing at different rates etc. I know it would have helped me a lot.
You guys have been great, just hearing that everything I feel is normal has been a real comfort at times.
I still have a very long way to go but they have changed so much already :)
I should put some more pics up on picture trail. I will do it soon.
My next appointment with my surgeon is Jan 7th, could have gone earlier but wanted to wait til the world had gone back to work/school. I will be just over 8 weeks post op so hopefully can go and get measured and maybe pick up a couple of bras :)
Just realised this has turned into a mammoth post! Sorry :)

Re: Finally in a happier place!
I'm pleased for you Jen.its a long recovery and I agree when you say we are not told enough about different things that we all go through. If it wasn't for the girls on here I would be worried about everything . I bet your excited about bra shopping? It's a long recovery and I for one am not patient . Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Re: Finally in a happier place!
Fab post Jen.
When new members looking to have surgery or booked and waiting on their day to arrive come here we do try ever so hard to guide every one to read the information we have in the Breast Augmentation Information section of the forum. Everything you need to know, both pre and post op is there to help prepare you.
Im glad you have found the forum has helped you in your journeys because a lot of hard work went into adding all that information and more importantly the experiences of each and every member is so, so important. Because those who are post-op...well, it's your experiences that will help those pre-op.
The support on Breast Buddies is something you won't find anywhere else on the net. Never will you find a whole group of women in one place without a bitchy word between them. But you found it here. Our focus is on support ONLY and whether that's from the information we have worked so hard to provide for you on here or from the support of other members, willing to shate their experiences with you . One things for sure......you'll never feel alone.
We're like one big family.

Re: Finally in a happier place!
Thanks girls,
Yeah, im so excited about big girl bras! Lol
I think we should be given info for post op, instead of being left to panic at very niggle and then told, almost patronisingly, that everything is fine and not to worry. We should be told that, although our boobs are a pair, we have had 2 very separate operations and the healing process should be treated this way. I think we expect them to heal the same as they are a pair and have been done together.
I think for me, and maybe you too Emma, the panic has mostly come from having furrys and knowing they adhere to the pocket.ive been worrying that they will heal wonky. I know it sounds silly, I should have asked my surgeon more about the healing process of them, but I only know what I would have asked now ive been through it lol
Hindsight is marvellous :)
Cookie, you are right. I love being on here. I really feel like I am a part of something. Its so lovely to be supported by so many women, when usually for reasons I cant comprehend, women seem mean to each other, especially if 1 has had surgery. Jealousy comes into it.
I also think, regarding the forum with BA info, I was scared to look at the after stories as I didn't want to scare myself with surgery gone wrong etc.
I think if surgeons put a "what to expect after surgery" leaflet or something stating fact, it might be seen as more matter of fact than scare mongering (not that im saying anyone on here would post a bad experience to frighten others) I know I would have seen it as "oh, so this could happen, or this, and thats OK"
Yeah, im so excited about big girl bras! Lol

Re: Finally in a happier place!
complications are only a VERY small part of the information we have in the Breast Augmentation Information section of the forum.
We really try to focus on the things you ARENT told in clinic, rather than the things you are, such as complications. Infact, complications are one of the most asked questions in the 'General Breast Augmentation' section of the forum. Women are naturally curious...
But as I said, for those coming here, PLEASE do take a little time to read. You really will learn so much and it WILL take a lot of stress out of surgery.
The most read thread we have in that section is this one [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and thats most likely because we link to it so much in an effort to help ease women's fears and let them know what they're experiencing which can be very frightening when it's all new to you that it's OK. So, please don't think it's scary at all in that section, it's really not.
Being informed and prepared is by far less frightening post-op than having not read about every eventuality. But then, that's just my opinion. Xx

Re: Finally in a happier place!
That is a great thread cookie, I read it and it really helped :)
I really think surgeons should take more responsbility tho, it shouldn't be up to everyone elderly to support those going thru it. We should be forewarned, is what I mean.
All those girls out there feeling like we all have at some point, that haunt found this site must be worried sick.
If you guys can knock up a thread with it all in, how hard would it be for surgeons/companies etc to do the same? :(

Spot on Anne! I'd have been lost without this forum, during week 1 and 2 I thought I'd had a rupture! I was deformed! I needed a private scan...omg I was flapping 24-7!
So happy your feeling better and your so right, it would be nice to be told about the feelings you could come across and the worrying xx

I get what you mean...old as I am I do agree that clinics should make more of an effort for their patients, but this is BIG business to these surgeons and the less they spend, the more money in their pocket.
If 'they' don't find it necessary they're not going to do it. And because it's only 'after' surgery that you experience the unknown, they expect you to come and ask them as part of the aftercare package provided. But especially with the large clinics getting an appointment post-op to see the surgeon is like talking to security guarding a very rare and expensive diamond lol. Xx
Re: Finally in a happier place!
I think everywhere that BA's are performed should have a card with this forums details on it whether it's private or clinics, feel sorry for any women who isn't aware of what to expect post op & maybe worrying themselves unnecessarily. Without this forum think I would been on the phone to hospital ever other day in the 1st few weeks of surgery.
Glad you are feeling so much better about your boobs Jen, what a difference a few days makes .XXX

Re: Finally in a happier place!
I tell all the girls in the waiting room when I'm at the clinic if I get chatting, which I always do. I'm just one of those women that likes to talk lol and I tell them all about Breast Buddies.
The more women that know about us the more we can help, so anyone having their ops or going to clinic and you do get chatting do please recommend us. (I'm being cheeky there expecting that you'd all 'want' to recommend us - sorry) If you'd like to recommend us, then please do.
