Re: after ba
Please don't panic woowoo! Someone will know more about this but as far as I understand, within a certain time frame, if you are having oral surgery (not a check up or anything) you should fyi your dentist in case of chance of infection. Smears etc aren't anything to worry about (unless they're jabbing around up there, in which case get a better nurse!). There's just increased risk because there's so much bacteria in your mouth, it could get into the bloodstream on a bleed. But then anything health wise just use common sense and let Dr's know if you think it's pertinent.

Re: after ba
Dont worry WOOWOO, I think in my case with the extraction it was either a coincident or i was just really really unlucky! Although I did tell them i had implants prior to the extraction. It is possible for infection from anywhere in the body to "seed", this happens through your lymph system. In my case, I had developed "dry socket" after the extraction & they should of discharged me with anti antibiotics which they never did And with having lymph glads in your neck and your underarm I suppose its highly unlikely, i was just really unlucky! Maybe on the plus side tho bcos if my breast didn't swell & I didnt have pain I would of never found out that my implant had ruptured.... Silver lining and all that

Re: after ba
I spoke to a plastic surgeon about this last week, as I'm about to have a lump removed from my surgeon under general and I wanted to check as I had heard about prophylactic antibiotic need when having root canal treatment. He said because the op is considered a 'clean' operation there is little chance of any potential infection entering the blood stream. But deep dental work has a slim chance in a dirtier environment hence the need. So no, I think you'd be fine for smears and routine fillings. Root canal work is a lot deeper. But if in doubt always check! And if you don't want to reveal it check with your ba surgeon/clinic!
