Horse riding
One thing that kept me awake last night was worrying how long I can't ride for after a BA?
I've just brought a new horse two months ago. I'm hoping to have my BA December fingers crossed How long do I have to wait to ride again? Xx

Re: Horse riding
First you'd have to adhere to your post op rules. That's normally no exercise for 6-8wks. But then comes the 'just coz you're allowed doesn't mean you can'. At 8 weeks I was allowed to start running again, but it wasn't until 12 that I was comfortable starting again. You're body will let you know. Plus you'll need to invest in a good high impact sports bra for that.

Re: Horse riding
I was 12 weeks before getting the all clear for excercise and Charlii is quite right. It's your body that's going to tell you when you're ready after that.
Taking a chance just to see if you're OK really isn't worse the risk either Jess, no matter how good you may feel.
If you do risk it and you do hurt yourself, you do risk forfeiting your aftercare and in waiting for your boobs, going through all that surgery and recovery, it's really not worth taking the chance, no matter how tempting sweetie.
Congrats on the new horses though! What have you called them?
Do you have anyone who can ride them for you whilst you're in recovery? Xx

Yup, best always follow the guidance from your surgeon
Awwww Ruby. You'll have plenty of time riding her albeit a little top heavier after your recovery - which will go quickly xx

Re: Horse riding
I was told 12 weeks for riding. Obviously I don't know what your situation is with stabling and suchlike, but be prepared to not be able to muck out, groom or suchlike for a while. At 3 weeks PO even doing the washing up was a bit of a strain for me, definitely couldn't have mucked out or been properly controlling a horse, even just walking it round the yard or out of the stable would have been to much until about 6 weeks x

Re: Horse riding
I guess it depends what your doing too like someone said above. When I'm ready I'm gunna sit on my friends pony who is just a dobbin and can literally ride on the buckle, whilst she rides my horse. Thought it would be a good way to test myself. Better to find your ok than be I'm a situation where you need to gather your reins cause it's dangerous.

Re: Horse riding
I've got a very sensible 17hh she is like a rocking horse to ride. I will speak to my surgeon when the time comes and I will just judge it at the time I think! Don't want to hurt myself.
I'm still deciding whether to tell my mum about my op, she is very against it and explaining why I can't ride for 6-8 weeks may be difficult!!

Re: Horse riding
it might be longer than the 6 - 8 weeks like some are told it can be 12 weeks for excercise if all goes well, rembember and wear a good sports bra on the horse lol
my sister in law has a few horses, its even the likes of walking them from stable to field if they tug at you early into recovery it can cause complications and even if you feel fine theres alot going on healing wise inside
I couldnt jog for months hahaha
can you tell you mum that you have a sore back or soemthing and your not up for riding? xx

Re: Horse riding
I will just take it as it comes I think. See my surgeon then decide to tell her or not.
Well I did think about saying I've torn a muscle in my back or something. I've had a tattoo for over a year and they still don't know!!
Play each day as it comes I think x
