BA - Awf Quaba @ Spire Murrayfield 15/08/14
This is my first post and thought since there wasn't a lot of information on Edinburgh surgeons/clinics that I would add to it to help others! Plus it's always nice to share a good experience! I am still unsure about how to use this so please let me know if I am posting this in the wrong place!
My family has just recently given me their full support and so my parents have offered to help me through the first few days. I am VERY grateful for this as I live on my own and don't drive. My mother came with me to the Consultation so that she could learn what to expect. I found that Mr Quaba was very informative and spoke more to her than myself. I didn't mind this as I have been looking into this procedure for nearly 8 years and have had a previous consultation with Transform.
It seems likely that I will be given Anatomical 'Teardrop' implants as I have little breast tissue and that they will be under or partials. I am 34A cup and wish to go at least to a D cup but also thinking DD! I am around 8 stone and 5'5'' so I think this should give me a fuller figure. The implants are Natrelle textured cohesive silicone gel.
I am due in this Wednesday for the tests and hope to be able to ask more about possible sizes. It seems like other women know what they are getting long before the surgery but I still don't know and it's only five days to go! I have been told I could have a second consultation but I don't see the need in that as I know I will see and speak to Mr Quaba before the surgery but that's all just too last minute to discuss such things, isn't it?
Anyway, I am very hopeful for the future. Strangely though, I do not feel overly excited! Calm before the storm, maybe? I would more than happy to hear any advice and also to help anyone else who is considering BA with Mr Quaba or Spire Edinburgh.

Hi, good luck with your ba, so close now!! It seems everyone is different and it all depends on where you go. My first consultation with the surgeon ive decided to go with he did all the measurements etc and got out sizing implants for me to try on. I pretty much chose on the day what size I want but will be going back for second consultation on 12th sept (ba 24th oct) and I believe this will finalise sizing?
When you say your going wednesday for tests what do you mean?

Welcome to Breast Buddies RoxIsOnlyTeasin
It really is advisable to make an appointment for a second consultation just before your surgery date. 5 days doesn't seem so long away, but trust me - in the next couple of days researching here, you will without doubt have questions you hadn't thought to ask that you'd like to ask before having your surgery. And if not.... You can always cancel, but the booking is there IF you feel you need it.
We do have quite a few ladies come through here from Scotland and there are many good surgeons up there also.
If you'd like to see if you can find previous information about the clinic or the surgeon you've chosen then you'll find the search bar at the top right if the forum a great help. Just type in your key word, for example - Spire and you should get a listing of threads to read
Enjoy the forum.

I wasn't able to book a second consultation but I have been reassured that I will have enough time to go over any sizing issues on the day. I am still confident that everything will be covered as I've made sure to write a list to help keep me organised on the day.
I am starting to get more excited now! I bought a sports bra in anticipation but expect that I may need to buy another if I do go ahead with a larger cup.

The tests was just a urine test which I think may be a drugs/pregnancy test?! They also took measurements and asked about my history of health.
I think I've done well in preparing for this so far! Through this forum and googling whatever comes to mind I've managed to organise my overnight bag and also my room for the first few days of recovery. One thing I've still to find an answer for is whether to go for surgical bra/sports bra/wireless bra. I was told by the nurse to buy a good sports bra so I ordered the front zip Shock Absorber and bumped it up to next day delivery. However, I do worry that if a sports bra is too tight will it prevent the implants from dropping as well as it could? Something I'll definitely ask when there tomorrow.
...Aaaaah!! Yeah, I'm definitely starting to feel excited!

Re: BA - Awf Quaba @ Spire Murrayfield 15/08/14
Thank you very much! I am pleased to say everything went without a hitch!
The pain was pretty sore last night and woke me up once or twice but I received pain relief and the nurses took great care of me. I am up and about and moving with ease today which has just made me so happy! Think all that exercise has paid off as I really think I should be in more pain than this!
I have received Natrelle anatomical implants under the muscle and they already look great! I do wish I could have had them bigger though and I am not even sure what size (cc's) I have them in but he did take care in evening out my breasts which I am thankful for. I have just sent an email to his secretary requesting this information.
I have taken pictures on the day of the surgery and some of how I look today. I can only hope that it's my sports bra that makes them appear smaller than what I hope they are! To me I look like I will be a C cup which does bother me but I am trying to keep a positive outlook: I am able to move around and lift my arms (although I am still keeping that to only when changing clothes), they look great already and I know that when they start to settle they will be beautiful.
I guess I can always think about getting another operation if I think I could have gone with a bigger size but it is a lot of money.
Oh, another thing. I remember being woken after surgery and being told everything went well and when I had spoken to them I had noticed that my teeth jittered. My whole body started to shiver and fidget like it was Winter and they said it was the anaesthetic but I had thought it was my nerves. Anybody else get this or am I just a big scaredy cat at heart? They gave me oxygen which helped and I soon fell asleep in my room.
I can't praise the staff enough at Spire Murrayfield. They were so helpful and gave such a warm welcome. I had a good laugh with the Evening Nurse who took me to surgery and the Night Nurse had an endless patience and kindness that she really made me feel like my comfort was her top priority. Absolutely wonderful! I would thoroughly recommend that if anyone in Edinburgh were to consider surgery that they have a look into Spire. They will have a wonderful experience and receive excellent care!

Congrats on the new boobs! Yes, the sports bra will be making them look smaller, plus with them being new they're going to be held very high and tight at the moment. As your skin and muscle stretches they'll look better.
You should have been given a booklet about your implant. In the back of that are stickers from the implant packs that should detail the exact ones you had, type and size.
The shivering post GA is so normal, with thg when I woke up I had a hose pumping hot air round me to counteract this, but I was still shivering. Also, the pain won't be too bad just yet as the GA is still in your system, and you would have had a local too. It's generally day 3/4 that are the worst as the GA is leaving you. Pre warning - it can get very emotional at this point, crying for no reason, oh what have I done etc. But the good news is this passes and most girls have a turn around about day 5. Stay on top of your painkillers, take them regularly, and you should be ok.
Rest up, take it easy, and happy healing!

Congratulations on your new additions! Glad everything went well, try not to worry too much about size at the moment swelling/ muscle etc holds everything very tight & can them look smaller , once everything settles and relaxes they change so much, lots of exciting changes to look forward to!
Happy healing. XXX

Thank you Mirren001! I am loving them more and more each day! And I think your right, I will be more than happy with the results once they have settled.
I also try to remind myself that once I'm back exercising I'll be even more satisfied when I see how I look all together.
I've managed to fit on my Shock Absorber 32D sports bra and I feel so much better. Feels like they're under control now ;) I've been walking and keeping myself active with gentle activities around the house.
My mood has been very good after surgery. Only dip I took was when I got home and went a bit huffy over the size. Was upset with the thought of having to pay more money to get the size I originally set out for but how can I be so silly when I am so happy and healthy right now?
I will be seeing Mr Quaba this Friday and will have my dressings off. Will be able to take pictures again to keep an eye on my progress. Can't wait to be able to wear dresses and bikinis!
