Another question... Rice test?
Sorry for all the questions, as you can imagine my consultation lasted ages because I had a question about everything and anything!!
Surgeon told me to buy a cheap bra in the size I want and fill a bag with 300ml of rice which would be equivalent to my implant, or the nearest I'm gunna get.
I bought a 34D and 34DD bra and have got the amount of rice to just what I want to achieve from my boob job, do i take the rice on the day of surgery to show the surgeon? They said they order the size agreed at consultation, the one below and the one above?
I've decided a 34D best suits my frame but would rather be a big D on the cusp of a DD than a big C.

Ps it's 3 months till my op so I half expect a ban by then :P not sure I can contain myself until then. I've even taken to telling the dogs about my boobs as poor OH hears of nothing else.

Ha, don't worry, we were all in that place at one point!
With rice boobs, the best thing to do is find the Cc sizes they're talking about, so a 300, and then you can find a catalogue online and see what the size up and down is, because it can differ brand to brand. For the sake of argument, let's just say that's 280 and 330. You also need to consider profile, as this will massively affect the end result. If you know the profile, you can also grab the circumference of the implant from the same catalogue and cut it from a cereal box. This will help to keep the implants shape and profile. Measure out the rice in grams and stick it all in a pop sock. Then you can try each one on and see how they look on you.
You need to focus less on the bra size and more on the look you want, because what you think a dd is and what it actually is will be completely different. Also, when I was trying rice boobs on, I thought I was a 36, so was in a 36c (my 'desired' size). Double check your band size because shops have women in the wrong one all over. Measure around where it would sit, and don't add anything. The true measure is you're true band. If you'd have told me then I'd have come out a 32e, I'd have run a mile, BUT they suit my body perfectly. You can see my rice boob pic story in the BA info section, under how to get your perfect boobs.
You don't need to take them with you, but you can always go back for another sizing appointment. The surgeon may in fact decide during surgery which size suits you best, or it may come down to the largest you can safely have, which is what happened with me.
That's a lot of info in one go! Hope it helps!!

Re: Another question... Rice test?
No, makes total sense thank you. Im having anatomical implants so have been trying to keep the rice sort of under my boob. I'm probably totally wrong.
He said that about size too, it's just I thought I looked better with the D bra filled than DD, I actually quite liked the DD but we decided (OH, Mum and Me) that it was just pushing the boundaries of natural. I went up in 30ml increments but that was a total guess. Will google naturelle implants and see what they actually are... Never thought of that, thank you.
I was measured fairly recently at M&S and surgeon said I was a 34B, I've been a 34 as long as I can remember :( I'm 29" round my band.

Re: Another question... Rice test?
M&s are bad for measuring, they add the 4/5 which is wrong. If you measure 29", you're a 30 band. Trust me, it's a ploy to get as many women to fall in a smaller size range so the shops don't have to hold as much stock. The support comes from the band, so you have to be sure it fits properly. I felt 32 was way too tight on me, so I went up to what was comfy (and dictated by the +4/5 rule), but actually I get a much better fit and support in the 32. I measure 31". It's a real pet peeve that these shops and even the surgeons don't know this. You should also be wearing a new bra on the loosest hooks, so that you can make them tighter as they stretch with wash and wear.
Go take a look at another one of my threads in the general BA section, called 'online measure guides laughable', it'll give you an idea off how wrong it a is.

Oh ok, i always thought it was 5 for an odd number and 4 for an even number.
Have just read your post. Who is best to get measured by once I'm post op and buying new bras?
I've always gone to M&S or debenhams, M&S seemed very thorough when I went last time. She bought me loads of bras and spent quite a long time adjusting them.

The adjusty part is fine, but if they've got you in the wrong band to start, there's no point. Bravissimo are top dog, and even though their online is incorrect, Boux Avenue were who put me in the 32e. Independent lingerie stores too, just not fashion brands. You can use the link to get a rough idea of your size as a starting point and go from there. It'll vary brand to brand, bra to bra. I've got two Kelly brook ones from new look, same padded plunge shape, one in a D one in an E! This is why it's best to always get reputably fitted.

I'm a nightmare with my rice blobs, I put them on then keep walking past my husband with my chest stuck out. I think he thinks I am losing the plot. It is all I talk about at the min. Xx

Re: Another question... Rice test?
Haha, I was going to wear mine going to the Trafford centre the other day but my daughter wouldn't let me, it's alright for her she's a dd now and only 15, God knows where she gets them from. My husband caught me trying one of her bras on, I wear the 2 sizes bigger from asda and hers was still big on me. He thought it was hysterical. Haha xx
