Pre-Op Empty Pre-Op

Post by MissyM 2nd May 2014, 11:49 am

Hi all,

I've got my pre-op on Tuesday (another step closer!!). Is it just a case of taking my height, weight, blood pressure, swabs? I've just realised I'm not entirely sure what to expect!

Pre ops can vary form place to place but generally include medical questionnaire ,blood pressure check,height/ weight etc and some take MRSA swabs more so if you work in a profession where you are in regular contact with sick people. Basically it's to check that you are fit enough to have an op/general anaesthetic X

My pre-op was a phone call confirming my next of kin and asking my last blood pressure reading! It wasn't until the morning of the op that they took all my measurements. Also, MRSA is only necessary if you've been in an NHS hospital within the last 6-12m I think, not all take it. I think bloods are only done if you have a disorder too. You will have to pee in a cup though.
