Varies from clinic to clinic, but usually medical history, blood pressure, height, weight, and possibly blood tests, ECG, MRSA swabs x

Re: What happens at a pre op?
Just a minor physical really, height weight blood pressure. Occasionally they'll ask for blood test, mrsa test, pee test, but not always

Re: What happens at a pre op?
ywah like the girls say it can vary
I had blood done, mrsa swabs, heights, we spoke a little more about my past depression and issues with my body, height weight etc etc, and we went over size and that again too xx

Re: What happens at a pre op?
As all the other girls have said, you normally will have basic tests like BP, pulse, weight, MRSA swabs, height etc.. And then the nurse will ask you questions on your medical health e. g 'do you suffer from epilepsy?' 'Is there a family history of cancer?' ..Then after that the nurse will probably go through what the day of your op will entail :) She may tell you what bra you need to take for the day of your op and what to bring in your overnight bag :) She may also tell you how to care for yourself for the first 2 weeks after your op and what your restrictions will be etc.. She may also give you a contact number if you need to ring the clinic out of working hours :)
I really hope it goes well for you, babe!! Good luck!! xxxxx

Re: What happens at a pre op?
My pre op was done over the phone, weird right? I had to find out my own blood pressure and call her back.
Anyone else had this? Doesn't seem right to me xxx

Re: What happens at a pre op?
No they just asked me questions and asked me to find out my blood pressure and call them back with it. Ive had no bloods taken or anything. She then said she's given me the all clear for my surgery!
Im going back for a second consulation so ill ask about it then. Its not exactly put my mind at ease xx

Re: What happens at a pre op?
I had my Mrsa swabs sent to me in the post to complete and send back to them. They just did my blood pressure, height and weight on the day of the op. They phoned me two weeks before and went through my health questions. I suppose unless you have any underlying medical conditions there are no major concerns.
Good job they didn't ask me to find out my blood pressure I wouldn't have a clue! Did you just go to your GP?
Xx

Re: What happens at a pre op?
That's so odd Sharon and would rather worry me about who I am getting my BA with! They are suppose to swab/bloods for mrsa and other infections so you can be cleared of anything before the op. I also had to go through a whole questionnaire and then as I had depression in my past had to get proof from my doctor that I am in a safe state if mind for the procedure xx

Re: What happens at a pre op?
Im booked in with The Hospital Group so thought it would all be above board! She went through loads of health questions and i told me to either pop in to see them or go to my GP for the blood pressure but id only had it done a couple of days before so i already knew it.
Think im going to give them a call xx

Re: What happens at a pre op?
They said they go by my health questionaires as its a surgery im choosing to have, they assume my answers are truthful and as im fit and healthy a telephone pre op is fine.
On the day i will have blood pressure ECG etc...
So i definately feel happier now! xx

Re: What happens at a pre op?
I didn't have any pre op check. They just took my blood pressure and asked questions about my health a couple of hours before my surgery. (this was probable my pre op check?)
The nurse had a pregnancy test in her hand but when I told her I was on my period I didn't need to do that.
My surgeon asked me at my first consultation about my health, my parents health, and if I took any medications.
I had a 6 hour journey to my hospital so that was probably the reason I didn't have to do any?

Re: What happens at a pre op?
I went with THG and had to go in for a proper pre-op check. I wouldn't be reassured with an over the phone one :/

Re: What happens at a pre op?
it would be horrible to have an over the phone pre op then get one on the day and something pops up and needs to postpone the op, it happens, can you call them and ask if you can go in for a pre op, is it far xx

I agree.. the amount of money we pay for this the pre-op checks should be done thoroughly in my opinion x

Re: What happens at a pre op?
That's a shame, be awful to be refused surgery on the day based on the result of a pre-op check. Wrong x
