Pain when excersising! Empty Pain when excersising!

Post by Newbieboobie 3rd January 2014, 1:21 pm

Hi everyone I'm 6 weeks PO today  dance And I've started back at the gym this week just doing lower body stuff like power walking on the treadmill, however I thought I'd do a few tummy crunches today and experienced a sharp pain behind my right implant, obviously I stopped right away but I was told I should be able to resume normal excersises at 6 weeks anyone got any thoughts on tummy toning without over exertion on the boobies? Btw these furry brazillians are softening much faster than I was told they would and I experienced my first "jiggle" yesterday

Some people can just go back into 'normal' exercise at 6wks, but it entirely depends on your healing. At 6wk i thought great, back on the treadmill. I wore 2sports bras and my compression band, power walk up to a slow jog and OMG ow! My body was telling me I wasnt ready. So I left it another 6wks until I was.

You'd be surprised how much your chest muscles are involved with so much exercise. If you've had a sharp pain, I would give it a miss and get back to healing. I know a lot of girls worry about this, but you've got to put your health and healing first. Stick with the walking, and wait for your body to tell you its ready.

Hiya.
I found it hard to get back into the gym with knowing what I could and could not do. I did a lot more planks to start with as there is less movement in the body so I felt less risk of strain and pull.
I can do crunches easily now but it took a little while.  As Charli said, you may need to lay off certain exercises until you are a little further down the recovery line. Frustrating I know but worth it!

Thanks I'm definitely going to stick to just walking on the treadmill till I see ps in 2 weeks. Feel like I'm going a bit flabby round the middle tho, still I guess it's a small price to pay for looking after the new additions lol x

Even though we're give the all clear for excerise at 6 weeks your body is still healin internally and can be for up to year after so resuming excerise is not as simple as it sounds.
Ease back into it, gentle walking is something to start, cross trainer with no arms or bike. Remeber raising your heart rate pumping blood through the body is exerting energy and putting pressure on your healing.

I didn't start back running properly till around 5 months post op!

A good sports high impact bra also is a must x

I was probably about 12 weeks before I was exercising properly again... it took ages for me to feel like they were mine and I had little twinges etc when I first went back to the gym.

Yes I agree about the bra I'm wearing a high impact one which seems to be doing its job but definitely not going to attempt jogging or cross trainer for a while xx
