Deposit for date
What are your thoughts girls. Iv been told by mybreast the first available date to see Simon withey for consultation is 24th January so iv booked that date. Iv been for a few consultations but there has been a problem with each surgeon for one reason or another. Iv heard lots of positive things re Simon and hoping he is a surgeon I can trust ( to be in the safest hands). Only thing is the surgery dates available right now are for feb march and if I don't secure now I'm prob going to be looking at April/may by time the consultation comes round. The coordinator said I can pay £500 now to secure the surgery date and if on the day of the consult once I'm out of appointment I decide Simon isn't for me il get refunded the amount. What are your thoughts, does this seem like a risk? Do u think il easily get my money back if I decide he isn't the one! .?

Re: Deposit for date
I think the coordinator is trying to rush you and I would t want them to have my money if I hadn't met the surgeon yet... It sounds like sales tactics and also added pressure subconsciously for you to like him as you have the date secured etc...
I know it's so exciting but you have to stay patient and if you do like him then it won't be too long in the grand scheme of things...
I wouldn't say any company will easily give you your money back although I'm sure they will but if we was talking about a large clinic such as transform and the PCC wanted you to pay before seeing the surgeon it would be seen as pushy and everyone would see warning signs... It's up to you at the end if the day as they are offering to give it back but I personally think wait until you see him xx

Re: Deposit for date
Its a BIG risk Doughty and not something I'd personally do.
I'd much rather wait for the 'right' surgeon and there's no telling this one is until you've met them, than just settle for the sake of a closer date.
Its your decision though babe, but I'd personally never book anything before seeing a surgeon and giving myself some time to think through the plan and whether or not I felt the surgeon was right for me. Xx

Re: Deposit for date
If they have said they will refund you then I wouldn't worry. You could ask them to send you an email to confirm the convo and this agreement.

Re: Deposit for date
Essentially, they're trying to book you in blind, and getting cash back from them will be a 'mare.
In my personal opinion, no surgery should ever be booked on the same day. When I went to get my eyes lasered, they actually wouldn't take my booking until 3days later when I'd had time to calm down and actually think about it. I think this is a necessary period, because you may come out of that consultation high as a kite, but then later on you thing, whoa, hang on a minute...
For me, I wouldn't do it. But its your call.

Re: Deposit for date
Hmmmm ...
ok - not trying to be the devil's advocate here - but liking the surgeon is one thing - have you been through the aftercare?
are you satisfied with what is covered / how long for and who by?
MYBREAST do use BAAPS reg PS (Cookie - another highlight here of a PCC - remember my journey)..
Personally - i would NOT book anything till i have met the surgeon and happy with the after care!!!
PLS PLS PLS PLS - DO NOT part with a dime until you have met the surgeon and MOST IMPORTANTLY gone through your aftercare offered - delay is not denial and i know you want this badly - but trust me - if he is right for you and you are happy a date will 'pop' up that will suit you!!!
After care policy is as good if not better than the PS you use - your PS gets your body for 4hrs tops (max and that highly unlikely) your after care covers a min of 1yr.. and the most import part after the op ..
PLS do not let go of your voice till you are absolutely sure ...

Re: Deposit for date
Echo what the others have said, I wouldn't part with any money until I've seen the surgeon.
He may be the one for you and you may like him, however not knowing what placement he will decide or even size he is willing to use , it's a very big risk to take.
And I'm sure they'd SAY they'd refund however I don't think they'd make it very easy.
I'd much rather KNOW what I'm getting and if i even like the surgeon before parting with your money hunny x

Blimey how annoying, I responded and now it hasn't appeared. I hear you all girls and I'm not going to go down that path so thank you, I'd hv prob concluded all this but its good to hear. Mybreast aftercare seems on par with many of the big companies and is something I may hv t stomach if I want a surgeon such as withey as cant afford the 2k premium to go private. The office manager of his private office did say he gives all mybreast patients good aftercare tho. Btw even tho not going to pay deposit she did say she would give me 3 days grace post consultation and in writing if withey not for me I'd get money back but I'm going to be patient and hope dates work out tx girls x

Re: Deposit for date
I really wouldn't rule out the fact that you CAN get aftercare on par with the larger clinics with a BAAPS member. You just have to seek out a BAAPS member who has opted in to ASC insurance.
This insurance is only available to BAAPS members and for a small fee (seems to be around (£150-£200) you could have an additional 2 years that starts AFTER your clinics aftercare runs out putting them then completely on oar with any aftercare that the large clinics offer.
You should never 'settle' when it comes to letting a person come near your body with a scalpel Doughty, there are always options out there for you.
Now as this insurance is relatively new, many surgeons haven't yet opted in. So you could always email the ASC, their email addy is: info@asurgerycommitment.com and ask them which members are offering this insurance in your area if this is something you'd like to do or even just look into. Xx

Re: Deposit for date
The ASC is a fantastic opportunity for those that want to use a clinic but may only get a years aftercare... This will then take that up to 3 years which then put them inline with the likes of the large clinics which also offer 3 years but doesn't use BAAPS members. Xx
Re: Deposit for date
I wouldn't do it, at my first consultation I wasn't too sure on my surgeon but after that initial consultation I had a nice letter from him thanking me for going and wasn't pushy into booking a date.
The customer services at nuffield were great as on first consultation I got the price and also was cheeky asking for discount which I got!!!!.
So then I talked it tjrough with the friend that came with me to first consultation and she said to book a date otherwise I probably wouldn't go through with it. So iphoned whilst with her on my lunch and got it sent me in writing and still no mention of a deposit ( may).
I went to another consultation with surgeon in july (still no mention of deposit or full payment) just to finalise what size implant I was having, also got another letter just to say what we had agreed on and he wokld see me on the surgery day.
I paid all the money 14 days before surgery so as you can see I wasn't pushed into anything or any dates (even though my surgeon does all surgery on a monday)
