when will i be admitted?

Hi girls! I've been told to arrive at abbey pines hospital at 8:00am in the mornibg.. Just wondering what time will i roughly be admitted to theatre? My coordinator said they may do the higher-risk girls before me e.g those with diabetes or high blood pressure.. I'm just concerned that i'll be waiting around for hours without a drink and my nerves will be rocket high haha! Thank you xxxx

You'll be fine.

High risk patients will indeed be first in, but that's not to say you won't be first on the list. If there are no high risk patients you'll go right in hun... If not, you could be waiting hours. I think the longest here is about 4 or 5 hours tops.

If you're nervous though do talk it through with the nurses. I had surgery at the Abbey Pines and they're so good there. They'll really help to put you at ease and if need be do ask for something to help you relax before surgery and they'll be able to sort that out for you. They're well trained in dealing with nervous patients and are so calm and patient - you've nothing to be concerned about hun. No matter how long your wait xx

Like cookie said u will be fine both times my admission was 12 noon first time to theatre 3.15 last time just after half 4 xx

Ahh thank you girls!!
I guess i'm just nervous about being nervous! It would be great to walk straight into theatre haha.. But i guess the longer i wait, the more excited i get and the greater experience it is!!
Cookie, is abbey pines easy to find? I'm going for a trial run tomorrow xxx

Yes it depends where you are on the list..,
I was admitted at 1130 and I was 2nd to last so didn't go down until 340...
However although it's normal to be nervous in the lead up... Many of us say that when you get there we feel calm because your sooo well looked after :) your be fine! Xx

Hey,

My admission time was 1230 and was second ( 3.30pm)on list but as I had a slight latex allergy I was first down (2pm).

I was in at 7am, down to theatre for 10. They have to allow time to do pre op - the usual questions, BP, measure you up for sexy stockings. Then theres time for one last consultation/ signature with your surgeon, and you meet with your aneasthetist too. Some girls do end up waiting for a while, but it shouldnt be too long.

I waited 7 hours, from 8am to 3.30pm. Starving wasn't the word!!!

It just depends on the day but enjoy the experience! Most if us miss our days and enjoyed our experience as a relaxing little get away lol... Not long to go xx
