Hi girls, I've got my ba and uplift booked for 16th jan, would anyone mind sharing their wisdom on what to buy pre-op, or have any tips. I know I need to buy a sports bra, arnica, bio oil, and extra pillows! :-) but would you recommend anything else. Also I heard about these strips that can help with the scarring, can anyone shed some light on which/where to buy. Thanks so much girls! xxx

If you don't have one already, a cheap electric toothbrush. The motion of manually brushing your teeth for the first week I found was agony. lozenges - some people find they wake up with very sore, dry throats, but also post op to help with any coughing fits, because that is also going to be sore.
For the day itself, you might want to take some nibbles to keep you going after your op. THG will feed you well, but I get ravenous after a GA! And I would suggest a 6pack of water bottles to leave around the house for post op so there's always a drink handy!

Just realised you're having Sultan through THG. But he doesn't work there now?!

I called them first to get a consult with him, but was told he'd left. Plus when I mentioned THG to Sultan himself, he turned his nose up, like glad to be shot of them!

Did you book ages ago? xx

Grapes! I found it hard to swallow any good after my ba as my throat was so so dry but grapes were a godsend!

Also a wheat bag for your back and ice packs for your boobs. Plus some zip up tops to wear a few days after if you feel like you could venture out. It was a good week and a half before I could comfortably get clothes on x

Silicone silicone sheets and gels aren't really necessary hun unless you have problems with your scars and they need a little bit of help. Otherwise just simple massage alone is all that that's really needed, maybe with a little bit of Bio-oil to help the massage technique move smoothly is all that's really needed to help break down the scar tissue - if its needed at all! I didn't use anything on my first scars and they healed perfectly to a nice fine line that was barely visible!

There's also a thread [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] with things you might need in preparation. Xx

I agree with cookie about those scar sheets, they arnt really needed ... Scars will fade by themselves and again bio oil will be fine...

Button up pjs or clothes because your arm movements will be restricted at first... Xx

Ok cool, I'm having a full uplift with ba so gona have loads of scars & wanted to use everything and anything possible to help them fade, but if there not needed then I think I'll take your advice an stick with the bio oil an massage. Gone use bio oil from now til the op too, maybe that'll help get the skin in a good condition xxx

thanks girls! Sorry one more question if you dont mind....how do you know what size bra to buy! Im looking at the triumph bra, but you have to chose a chest size and cup, apart from the obvious, I presume there will be alot of swelling too, so impossible to say what size you need. How did you girls decided what to buy xxx

ur surgeon should be able to guide you

what size are you in now

om normally 32 but i had such swollen ribs i went up to a 36!! only for a few days so getting bra extenders are good

why not try the macom then you just need to know the band size xx

Well if you want the triumph ask your surgeon what size he guessed you will be... Get bra extenders too...
However like tink said you could try the Macom bra... Many of us live by these because they are designed for after a BA... You only need to know your back size which is amazing as it takes all the problems away from wondering what size you might be xx

Thanks girls, I've had a look at the macom, think I'll go with that one, much easier! I'm a 34 now, so suppose I'll get the 34, and some bra extenders. Thanks again! xx

Bra extenders only work with back fastening bras so you can't use them with the Macom xx

Ah of course!! :-) so with the macom bra, does it stretch around your ribs, to accommodate the extra inches for swelling, or should I buy one size bigger xxx

My surgeon provided mine and I asked for a small and a medium (I'm a 32) and the medium was brilliant to change into when the small was digging in. Definitely worth getting the next size up as well x
